Stop being such a pussy. I thought the ending was amazing and I wouldn't have had it any other way. It added a nice twist to what was a pretty intense movie to begin with. If you care to share with me the ending to the novella then please do. You can put it in spoiler tags or if you don't know how spoiler tags work just PM the ending to me and I'll help you out with that.

For those of you that are curious about the ending to the movie, I'll post it below but...

Turns out there is shit in the fog and it's insect like things. The people (including the protagonist and his child) who are stuffed into a grocery store make a run for it and pretty much escape the immediate area... only to run out of gas. In the middle of nowhere surrounded by ridiculously thick fog and insects they figure their death wasn't too far away and decide to take their lives. Inspecting their revolver they find one problem: there's four bullets and five bodies. The protagonist of the movie decides that he'll be the one to be eaten by the creatures and to have mercy on everyone else. He shoots everyone in the car (including his child and yes, it was consensual, at least amongst the adults). Obviously distraught over just shooting his fucking son,he gets out of the car to embrace his fate and... well, the military shows up annihilating the monsters and escorting rescued civilians to safety. The end.

Alright. I can understand your explanation as to why the ending might not have been as good as the novella's. I actually made the same comment about him being a little too quick to the trigger especially since they were willing to fight through so much just moments before. That argument I'll take, but I still wouldn't have preferred for the movie to have ended any different.

Calling it inhumane, disgusting, and despicable just makes me think you're rejecting the ending solely because of your I can't believe they just did that attitude which is oddly similar to that of a militant soccer mom hell bent on getting all video games that aren't leap frog banned.

There's references to TDT books in the movie. Most notably, in the very beginning, the protagonist is painting the cover to one of TDT books.

And I had never read The Mist and I thought it was an excellent movie. I don't know if you'd trust my opinion on movies though.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
