Yeah, I can't imagine anyone getting excited about aspects of the movie other than the monsters in Final Wars, I found myself bored to tears during the whole motorcycle fight.

Yes, it does look a little like a lot of Criterion's recent, more "artsy" covers for Kurosawa's films, like "Kagemusha".

Sony has been good with the Godzilla films that they have. All Sony Showa film DVDs are top-notch quality, and leagues better than Classic Media's, ADV's, and Simitar's current DVDs.

True, although companies like Tokyo Shock (aka Media Blasters) have been releasing more obscure kaiju films like "Space Amoeba" with nice presentations ripped from the region 2s and a good selection of extras and audio commentary tracks, so the bar needs to be raised for the Godzilla films too.
Also, yes, Biollante is owned by Miramax in the states, which is a real shame as it's far and away my favorite film in the series. After Classic Media releases these films, it will be the only one not in DVD in the states other than "The Return of Godzilla" (aka Godzilla 1985).

In another movie (forgot which), a guy says something and the subtitles says '????' where the word should be. I guess whoever was working on it forgot to go back and correct that.

That's because GMK is not subtitled for the Japanese track, but for the god awful dub that has them cheering when they are saying "Shit!" in the original audio...
Also, I think this is the scene you are talking about where someone forgot to fully subtitle the line:

Jam it back in, in the dark.
