Playing Ps2/GC/Xbox on the PC. Composite vs. S-video

I'm just sharing this with you guys to show the difference between s-video and standard composite cables. I'm sure theres a good amount of people that don't know about these differences, or if anything, just how big they are! here it is..

I recently played Final Fantasy XII on my laptop using a TV tuner card. I lost my glasses and I can't see shit on my tv from where it is so this was the best option. I got to chill in my bed and role play it up.

I used a hauppage pvr-900 which has a few inputs, audio s video, and composite cable. I hooked up everything and went through the composite video.

I was not impressed. I actually got headaches while playing fullscreen because of the lack of sharpness. It was a real drag, I had a hard time making out the enemies fully and seeing what they were all about, and couldn't really tell what the textures were. Nonetheless I played the game, but not before visiting ebay.

I got myself a monster ps2 s video cable for 6 bucks, new. WOW. SO it came the other day and was thick as hell. Like really thick, 3x as thick as the standard ps2 cable.

Anyway here and my screenshots. I just put them in a folder and went back and forth between them.

The link works but the thumbnail doesn't.

It's clear that S-video makes a very nice difference if you are playing these games on a monitor or HDTV. It won't have as big an impact on standard definition sets, but you will still see a difference.

I will never hook up with standard cables again. They DO make a difference. Let's also not forget that is running thru a tiny tv tuner, and I'm sure it would look even better if it were hooked up straight into an hdtv.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
