I wouldn't worry about it, he has his whole life ahead of him.

I still can't believe the prices that the 360 bundles go for and by now you would figure M$FT had enough to go around.

Lightbulb

Perhaps someone can help me out, because with all this price gouging it's nearly impossible to know the actual retail price of the 360. There are some pretty idiotic bundles out there so in short I'm asking how much is the core system. And how much was the premium system package, hard drive, wireless controller etc.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Any idea when the next batch of Xbox 360 consoles will be available, by this time I figured it would be possible to walk into BestBuy or Toys R Us and pick one up. :eyebrow:

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Question

Hmmm, to pick or not to pick one up. 5th gen. 360s seem to be in stock a my local BestBuy, shame that I have a bunch of errands to run today but thought those living in the NYC area would like to know.

Purchased one for kicks, it was just there so I said why not. First title I picked up was NBA2K6, on my 52" Toshiba HD DLP...the damn things is breathtaking. One flaw as I'm sure comes with all products created by M$FT was how it froze with 33 seconds left in 4th quarter. :lolsign: Guess I'll remove it from my TV cabinet and place it elsewhere with better airflow.

Double Post:
Well M$FT certainly lived up to it's name, either my console needs to be replaced or just NBA2K6. I'll find out tonight after testing the blasted thing at BestBuy's geeksquad. Thank goodness I know someone who works there.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Any idea how I can share my gamecard on the forums here. I'm having no luck getting the darn thing to work.

Post

Appreciated.

On an additional note this bit of news that I've just found recently is a major blow to those with current Xbox 360 systems. In short, it seems M$FT will be upgrading the 360's CPU.

Full article here.

It's also currently the only system that the local gamestop is currently carrying. They're telling me that I can buy the Core and the HDD and pretty much make the premium package. The only difference is the wired controllers isn't it? Sorry, I don't know much about what comes with each one, aside from the lack of the hard drive.

EDIT: Found a place with a premium system. So it's either that or waiting until later I suppose!

EDIT2: I'm getting the premium system! Thanks for all the input!
I think this is a pretty good bundle, had I know this was available during my time of purchase I would've gone this way. You may be able to get away with swapping PGR3 for Oblivion at your local gameshop. I exchange new games rarely but it's no trouble to do so, at least for me.

Kinda a bit off topic here but is there any way to create a custom icon for my 360 profile or am I just limited to the ones available on Live? :eyebrow:

I doubt M$FT will want to waste the time and energy monitoring the few thousand Xbox Live gamers. :eyebrow: But it was indeed a stupid move, I couldn't believe the stuff they try to pass off as icons and having to pay an additional amount for themes/icons or whatever.

Since this is a 360 discussion, how about recommending some titles worth a purchase. I'm pretty close to getting my hands on COD2 for $30 at most brand new from a buddy of mine and well what else is there worth playing? One can only play Uno for so long.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'm not really into GTA type games, I think they're overrated but that's just me. I'll give Blood Money, CH & Oblivion a look, although I've been meaning to ask if Oblivion is online playable? :eyebrow:

Also I should bring up this interesting bit of news. First it was the DS Lite and now it's the Xbox vision camera. Yep, Toys R Us broke release date once again so those interested should find this article useful.
I've come across a few gamers on Uno with their cameras all setup and the quality isn't that bad. With Texas Hold Em out soon, can anyone say strip poker. :lolsign:

The game does suffer a bit with online play, it can get pretty bad at times with lag and nowadays hardly anyone is online playing SF II' HF.

I've gone through three 360 consoles and I was not pleased receiving a refurbished system. Took me less than a week to get my system back, in all honesty I don't even think they check the systems being sent in to Texas. Got a box, slapped on the sticker and console on the box, drove to my local UPS and got it back the following week. Just be sure to get the extended warranty, it's not much to pay for considering the likelihood that these systems will die within a years' time. 2 year warranty can be purchased for $59 if I remember correctly, a few brave gamers decided to pass on purchasing the extended warranty and once their 360 flatlined, they had to pay $129.99 for the repair. So remember that the warranty lasts for 6 months only. If you really want to put your 360 to the test, pop in Dead Rising and see if plays all the way through without error.

You know for just no reason at all I decided to go through the COD2 booklet and actually look through it and to my surprise I noticed a few images in the book display more than what appears on my set. Now the 360 supports 16X9 so one automatically assumes that there is no problem if there is a HDTV but as it turns out my set has some serious overscan issues. I had a CD lying around which hadn't been finalized so I added two images there. 720 & 1080 image files to see where my 360 stands.

Here are my results...

Now I don't know exactly if this is a problem with the 360 alone but when viewing DVDs even after I calibrated the darn thing it didn't display any overscan at all. HDMI inputs on my set are perfect same with the 2 component streams when using my upscaling DVD player. I recommend many of you to run these tests to see if they pass, otherwise I demand a fix from MSFT.

I was mentioning that video signals coming through HDMI were fine as well when viewing through component video (DVD player) which means it's a problem with the 360 and not my set. I'm using the packaged cables with the premium 360 setup. Looks like I'll have to locate an ISF calibrator in NYC, $200-$400.

Update:
Ringed up MSFT to see if there was anything that could be done about this and the rep suggested the cables going bad and I mentioned using both the premium cables packaged with the 360 and my buddies monster 360 cables. Using either displayed the same error so then he said it was a graphical error with the 360 and they'll exchange it. So once again, back to Texas. Hopefully it's the console alone. It would just seem weird as to why this happens only with games and not the HD-trailers posted on the XBL marketplace.

How ya doing, buddy?

The PS3 on the other hand will be a native 1080p, so when you hook up your 1080p component, or HDMI it is a TRUE 1080p, not a converted 720p to 1080p.

P.S.
If they do make the future games to run in a native 1080p, the performance of the games will take a hit, unlike the PS3 that is designed to run in 1080p and therefore it will run in the resolution without having to devert power from other resources just to output 1080p like the 360 will be doing.
As far as I know, there is only one native 1080p game on the PS3 and that is GT. The games at launch will be 720p as well so is there necessarily a difference? I doubt MGS4 will be 1080p, the PS3 does has it's limits so only time will tell. Games I expect to run in full 1080p would be titles like Tetris & Uno within the first year or so. :lolsign:
