I got somewhat of a similar question.. so for the sake of starting a new thread.

I have a HP w1907 that's HDCP enabled and i was wanted to play PS3 games on it. I did some research and found i can get the display up with a HDMI to DVI cable (hook HDMI up to PS3 and the DVI to monitor) so i think i'm set with that. The real question comes with audio as i am totally clueless when it comes to the subject. I don't really have any other plug ins other than the basic audio in plug that are like basic PC speakers jack. So i looked up alternatives and this was the only one in my price range that i thought could work, i guess i need confirmation before i go out and buy everything. I found a Y-adapter Phono Jack i thought i could use so i'd use the composites from the PS3, hook both ends up by that and then use the other end in the speakers or built in monitor speakers.. is this doable?

Really hoping this works or something cheap that is also doable, this has been bugging me for weeks trying to figure out how do things.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I don't think so, the resolution dimensions, mainly the height, don't resemble your typical widescreen/HD display (2560 x 1600, 1920 x 1200, 1680 x 1050, 1400 x 900, 1280 x 800, etc). Just sounds like it's able to produce a lot more pixels than a standard PC monitor, but giving the resolution sizes and VGA output i don't think it can be a HDTV.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm sorry i wouldn't know about HDTV hook ups with this monitor, that's beyond my knowledge for the moment, mainly cause i don't have one yet.

As for playing on game systems, to my knowledge if you have PS3 or Xbox 360 it'd be perfect for the monitor cause it has an HDMI slot and HDCP which is needed in a PC monitor to support it. You can either buy a HDMI to HDMI cable to hook them both up, or a cheaper way is buy a male HDMI to female DVI adapter and just hook the HDMI adapter from the system to the monitor with DVI cable. If you have PC nearby you can just hook it up with VGA and just toggle video inputs when you need instead of switching out cables.

As for getting sound from the system to speakers, i don't know your sound system display, but mine for example i had to buy a y-adapter stereo phono thats in the link a couple of posts, plus a 1/8" coupler for input/output connection. Just hook up the red/white composites that came with the system to the y-adapter and then the coupler on the on the other end and used regular PC speakers to join up the other end of the coupler, all works good.

Back to the main question though, i have no clue about the HDTV if you'd need the composite cables or just HDMI, sorry about that. Maybe go into electronics store like Best Buy or search around web for other forums on the topic.

How ya doing, buddy?
