Dark Moor, Bal Sagoth, Fairyland, Hollenthon, Thy Majestie, Wuthering Heights and recent Therion. =)

I'm not sure I'll like 80's Priest as much as I liked 70's Priest. I'm totally in love with Sad Wings of Tragedy, while British Steel ... Totally love some stuff from Painkiller, though, but I've had that one for a while.

Finally got the 2 Lord Baltimore albums this morning, so it'll be on today's playlist. Dio I've gotten into already as I'm in love with his voice, but I'll sure check on everything else you mentionned. =)

Just listened to Running Wild's Gate of Purgatory, and meh ... I dunno, it's cool to headbang for 60 minutes straight, but I didnt notice a single actually catchy melody or anything ... Same went for Saxon, eventhough I liked it better.

Iron Maiden I'm starting to hook, though I still don't what's the huge deal about it. =p

Black Sabbath albums sung by RJ Dio rawk, especially Heaven and Hell. <3

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah, the sound is really ugly and almost sounds like badly compressed mp3s at times, but hey, I think some moments are still really powerful.

Also Vemp errr ... I really don't listen to much new metal these days, and I think you know all I like already. =/

And I don't like Rush, nor Amon Amarth...

Empyrium were great, eventhough they're really giving *too much* into the german neo-romantic stereotype at times.

Equilibrium, I plainly don't like. =/

Come to think of it, there arent a lot of German bands I like ...

Listening to the new Drudkh now. It comes to the point I love that band so much I cannot describe it with words. There is something about their music that talks directly to my soul.

Anyway, full folk album this time. Beautifull and mysterious. <3

Listening to Astrofaes a lot these days. Can't believe it took me something like 5 tries to finally like them.

Also, I re-listened to Lucifugum's Instinct Prevelance, and shit, is that album awesome. It's too bad that the majority of the Ukrainian scene albums released before 2000 have such a terrible production, because they're always the ones with the best synth works. =p

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Just uploaded Belenos' latest album for someone, so I'll post that here as well.

They're a French Celtic Folk Metal band, and while I usually dislike modern music sang in French, I really like them. I can barely understand a few words of what they sing, anyway... ^_^;

Goddamnit. I was supposed to go to a local show called "Black Xmas" that included Woods of Ypres (along with Moonlyght, Wolven Ancestry, Dreamscapes of the Perverse, The Green Evening Requiem, Empyrean Plague and Deathmarch) and they canceled it. So fucking lame. Ah well, they're playing with Moonsorrow on the fifteenth at the same location... which now that I think about it might explain why it was canceled...
Sounds like a hell of a gig. I like Moonlyght and am curious about how Woods of Ypres would sound live. Interesting band by the way. Can't say I love them, but it sure is an experience everytime one of their albums randomly shows up on my playlist. I heard someone calling them "summer black metal", once. =p

Somwhere along the lines of viking/pagan/folk metal. (I usually ask niki or morrigan for names, whenever I can.)
I'm more in an Ukrainian Black Metal phase again right now. Lucifugum, Astrofaes, Warhead ... Stuff like that. I guess you could like them, eventhough it took time for me.

So I'm still in my Ukrainian Black Metal phase, and after listening to Astrofaes' Those Whose Past is Immortal (which is now one of my favorite albums) for a while, I decided to give Khors a chance, since the members are all from bands I like.

Very nice stuff, I must say. Their latest album, Cold, got pretty fresh new sounds while still having the tradional Slavic Black Metal base Ukrainian bands are known for. Lots of keyboards and unusual synth sounds which gives another view on those now familiar sonic snowy landscapes. Recommended! =)

So the new Ensiferum was leaked. 3 listens so far and I can say it passed the test of "will it still be Ensiferum without Jari?".

It sounds and feels like Ensiferum, but yeah, like an uninspired Ensiferum. While musically they remain in the same catchy vein, I must say I didn't feel the particular touch in melodies that made much of the atmosphere of the previous albums.

Sure, the catchy headbang factor is still here and it's a fun album, but it still misses something. Maybe next one? =p

Surfing the Viking Metal wave guys? wtf ...

edit: k, like, really ... WTF

Whatever happened to riding motorbikes and Heroic Fantasy battles? =/

edit2: Ok, so it's actually classic Manowar with added "symphonic" interludes and narrations. The classic Manowar parts are good, as to be expected. The rest though ...

lol. I was lolling while reading the booklet actually, but it's still a pretty decent album. Some parts are boring though.

So, Finntroll's new album is on the internet. Haven't listened(downloaded) to it yet. Your thoughts?
Only 1 listen so far but it's good stuff and defnitely Finntroll. Darker than their previous one, but definitely carries their particular vibe. I'm gonna listen to that one a lot in the next week, I think. <3

Revival ~

Just to state I'm totally addicted to Taake's Over Bjoergvin Graater Himmerik. I've had that album for quite a while, but it's greatness clearly appeared to me only recently. Complex yet catchy, atmospheric yet brutal, melancholic yet joyful and constantly folkish ... a perfect symbiosis of everything I love in Black Metal. <3

I feel like downloading/buying/checking out some power metal bands and albums. Any suggestions?

I'm not really keen on huge/bombastic/epic orchestral/keyboard sections though.
Tough one for me since that's what I like in Power Metal. xD

Try some Wuthering Heights and tell me what you thought. I'd recommend Far from the Madding Crowd. =3

In other news, I've just discovered Triglav, and anyone feeling like listening to some new folky synth driven Ukrainian Black Metal should listen to them. =p
