While yoda is hard to hit while he's standing around, the majority of his move list has him jumping around like a cock bite. Because of that, he's slow as shit.

How ya doing, buddy?

The online online gaming I did on Soul Calibur was against a dude that was whoring out Siegfried's 2B. Honestly, Starkiller isn't that bad at all. Just gotta teach learn how to zone him.

Combos are still hard to pull as well, But then again soul Calibur is not about combos its about hard hitting shots you pull off.
Actually, you are very mistaken. The whole Soul Crush system makes it even more of a combo based game then ever before. Add that to the guaranteed damage off of wall splats and this game is looking more and more like Tekken with weapons.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Speaking of which, has anyone ever pulled one of those Soul Crush attacks off? I can never get it to work at all.
When someone's health bar is flashing red, you gotta keep beating on them until a piece of armor explodes and they stagger back and have some electricity around them. The moment that happens, you have to press LB. Pretty sure it's L1 on the PS3 controller. The majority of them are typical auto combo stupidity, but my personal favorites are Astaroth's and Maxi's.

I can't seem to win a match online at all, and those are the last achievements I really need. I'm more of a reflexive player using Taki or Mitsurugi, but it seems like both of them are out the window because everyone and their dog chooses either Kilik, Astaroth, or Nightmare and then begins spamming the holy hell out of every distance move they can knowing you can't defend from it. That 1 second delay simply does not allow for it.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to neutralize this?
Chances are, they're non tracking. Sidestep, launch, GG. If they start sidewalking with you to help with their tracking, it's a good time to start trying to put them in a mix up. Remember, if an attack is high, you can duck them and whiff punish. I just hate that so many of the while standing moves in the game are highs also...

I was speaking idiomatically.

How can you say that the tower is easy while you can't win a fight online? I have over 80 consecutive wins with Taki online but I find floors 57~59 in the tower to be mad hard.

If your opponents spam Kilik/Astaroth/Nightmare, spam them back with fast characters. I hadn't had any problems with Taki. Another protip, upgrade your character's ATK/DEF/HP stats. Having good skills equipped but low in character stats and you're dead anyway.
Beating the computer does not requires more luck then actual skill at the game. It's the same with any fighting game. Playing against another person is a whole different world. Even when you're a competitive level player, there's certain thought patterns you have to keep in mind when fighting other people. in the span of 2 - 4 rounds, you have to figure out:

Do they know what they're doing?
Was that a set up or just random?
Are they good at breaking grabs?
Do they like to turtle because that's their playstyle?

Various other factors I can't think of at the moment. I hope you get my point though.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Mitsurugi's 8WR 2/8 A+K is a fucking beast---the range is nearly nonsensical, and people don't expect it.

...are there unlockable items exclusive to the Tower of Lost Faggots mode, or can I just unlock all this with honors.
You think that's bad? You should see his 2K,B. Pure insanity.

My friend let me borrow the 360 version of the game. If anyone wants to go a few matches, hit me up at Manello Biggz.

I'm enjoying the hell out of Lizardman in this game. His crawling stance got upgraded with some amazing goodies and his NCc 66B+K, A, B is too manly for words. Anyone with the 360 version want to set up a room for 4 one of these days?

Jam it back in, in the dark.

First thing you need to find out, is your best option against his crawl stance. Look for your quickest move that can hit grounded. Another thing to remember is that Lizardman is a generally slow character. If you have a character like Maxi or Taki, you can lock him down real good. Stay on him and he has very few options to get away. I'm still learning the game myself, but this is the main stuff that has destroyed my strategy so far.

He doesn't have an unblockable from crawling. He does have that really slow rolling unblockable that he can cancel into the stance though. You can simply sidewalk or interrupt him.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

My approval rate on live has plummeted since playing this game. So many immature jackasses. It's almost as annoying as the hosts on Tekken: DR kicking you from the room when they lose.

^ Let me guess, Kilik spammers?

Just fought Shenlon online, the bastard was one of the Kilik spammers lolol
I don't have a problem with those people. Once you recognize his tracking strings, you can punish the holy hell out of him. All I need is to get on the offensive and I can take people out pretty quick. Whether it be a RO or a KO.

Actually, Yoshi plays totally different than his Tekken self. Moves that are amazing in Tekken, are not so great in SC and vice versa. This is the 2 sword version that was introduced in Tekken 6 though. He's also really high tier according to the early tier consensus.

People hitting you with the same attack over and over again = frame advantage. That means that you should:

a. Block the move and then retaliate.
b. Block the move and then sidewalk and punish whiff.
c. Block the move and duck if it's a high.
d. Block the move and jump attack if it's a low.

Dunno about you guys, but 5 bar matches were pretty much flawless for me on XBox Live.

If I ever do see the same combo performed over and over again I just simply throw a quick punch or kick since those tend to be quicker.
Unless you block if first, that's exactly what you should NOT do. There are sometimes where you shouldn't retaliate at all too. If you're fighting against anyone with some any sort of knowledge of the game, they might use something like a combo that's safe on block for set ups. Some stuff even gives frame advantage on block.

If you guys want to really be viable at all in vs play, look this stuff up. If you don't know about somethign like frame advantage then I can kill you with something retarded like Liz's 3K. If you get hit by one, you're only option is to block/GI/JI the next one. If you try to move or interrupt it in anyway, it will interrupt because of the frame advantage that it gives. This is a example of a tool to use against mashers. It's called "training them to block". Of course, to the untrained, this will look like me being a cheap spamming bastard, when I'm really just making you look bad because of lack of knowledge. It's like someone not knowing they are able to attempt to block shots during a basketball game.

Just throwing that out there...

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Sure, it's not for everybody. I've only begun to study the game myself. I tend to find enjoyment in breaking the mechanics down in fighting games. It makes it more rewarding overall and entertaining when you're in high level competition. Even if you do well against a top level player in one or two matches, it doesn't feel anywhere near as satisfying as knowing WHY you did well.

Don't let the frame advantage stuff scare you. There isn't even a full list released yet. If you want to test some moves, get a friend to help. Go to training, pick the same character, set the dummy to controller, have the other person block whatever attack you want to test out, and then both of you do A,A (generally the fastest move in most character's arsenal). If you interrupt, you're at an advantage. If he/she interrupts, you're at a disadvantage. If you both hit at the same time, you're at 0 (no advantage or disadvantage).

I don't know, Manny. My problem with the game just stems from stupid shit, like the inputs. I really like Setsuka, but Mitsurugi/Taki players can set up a few shoulder macros and do the kind of shit Setsuka needs precision Just Frame inputs for. I really don't like Namco's ideas for controls, it supports the whole "artificial barrier" idea entirely too well.
That was a nuisance in Tekken also. Have you tried buffering? If you want a great place for info on your character and the game mechanics, here's a great spot: Soul Calibur Forums - Setsuka

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I mean, I'm sure with time I could get the timing for the presses down, but why bother when you can go to other characters who don't have nearly the amount of frustration to get their A-Game going? It's just a bad decision, it can be circumvented, but it really damages the playing field.
Like you said, it's bad game design. There's always those characters that get held down because of this, but the high comp admires people that still use those characters. (Lei from Tekken) I guess people put themselves through all that input practice for bragging rights. Any other characters you're interested in giving a shot?

This pad is driving me insane. When I start working in a week or two, I'll be grabbing the PS3 version. If you guys wanna hit me up, my PSN is MannyBiggz. Feel free to add me now if you wanna play Metal Gear Online, Tekken: DR, Unreal Tournament 3, or Eye of Judgment online.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
