So - have you been told that you have an accent?
*after giggling and staring for two minutes while I'm helping her with her homework my niece decides to respond to me...*
Me: "What's wrong sweetie?" Niece: "Nothin'. I'm just laughing. Where do you live again?" Me: "Birmingham, Alabama." Niece: "Ooooh, That's why...Uncle Jon, you sound so country!" Me: "Is that so?" My niece: "Uh-huh. We (her and my nephews) think you sound just like Huckleberry Hound" *At this point my big brother proceeds to burst into peals of laughter* Me: "That's...cute sweetie, now go in the other room and play with your brother." So...apparently I'm frequently told that I have an accent, but for the life of me I can't hear it. Do any of you guys have an accent, and if so, what kind is it? Can you recognize it when you talk and do you often pick up on others? How ya doing, buddy?  |
