[PS2] Final Fantasy XII

kainlightwind i don't think they'll do FFVII on the ps3, although i woudl like it, i think all the voice acting, the fact that they would make it HUGE would spoil the original FFVII, because i think the PSX version has some kind of desperate and really human feeling about it that i don't want it to be modified

But what does Flicker Filter do?

I suppose the flicker filter can be compared to anti aliasing, this option is in God Of War or Tekken 5, fonts are smoothed and the screen seems more stable

when activated, it should be less tiresome for the eyes, like setting higher refresh rates on your computer screen, the problem is TV's only support 60hz so it's a technical trick i don't know much about but it should be set to "on" while playing for a better experience

The intro movie is in fact the "new game" video > when playing a new game, there is another video which is totally awsome and about 5 minutes long, the editing and the music is better than the movie you're looking at, it'll probably be uploaded on the net too


i've played the game for about one hour and i think people who loved Final Fantasy Tactics will love FF12... the cutscenes are reminicent of MGS, the way they are filmed and edited, etc...

when whizzing around the city it seems like you really are in a city, there are TONS of people walking around, when you enter a shop it's like saturday afternoon , there are NPC looking at items to buy, the shops look like shops in fact ^^ a bit like shops in the HarryPotter movie

Tutorial, i didn't really get what's going on there, we see Vayne for the first time and he seems to control Basch with a magic spell

I think it means that 10 or 13 tracks were recorded with a real orchestra, the others are just sythethised sounds

It may also mean that Sakimoto was alone for most of the tracks but for 10~13 tracks, a big team was working on them.

If you listen to all the mp3 posted on yousendit, they're all recorded with synthethisers but still they sound great !

And they really sound like FFT music, it's incredible!

^ Yeah, but to me, I though he would have slighly change style with time (he did the Breath of fire V OST...), FFT must be ten years old now (like comparing Uemastu's work between FF's you can see changes); But i think i'm even happier that he sticked to that style


Anyways, for those who have progressed far in the game, are there small towns in the game ? the first town you are in is ginormous

For HDLoader lovers, apparently a patch has been posted on 2chan, so it's a japanese patch and there's not much about it yet, and japanese exe don't work on US windows xp :/

no one confirms it works yet, no one knows if it's fake or not

PS : HDLoader enables you to store PS2 games on a harddrive = game list on ps2 startup + faster loading times but some games don't work on it

i used to like wizzing around with the airship in FF7

you can also get a feel of how the world is and that's good, though usually the airship about half the size of the globe ^^

hehe i'm n°3 right now and european so game is not gonna be out soon...

still i'm 10hours in the game, i love the battle system, i was really getting tired of the turn based battle, especially the loading times between explore and battle, (you loosed about 5h i guess if you played 100h on older FFs just loading battles)

but i'm having problems with the license board, i have about 400~ LP on each character and no money so i can't really enhance my characters... so hard to get Gils in this game :/

thanks jazzflight, thats what i was thinking of but are you using a gambit for stealing or do you steal manually ?

i havent found the ultimate gambit for stealing yet

i use a gambit "target leader foe > Attack ; foe(any) > steal"

if i put steal before attack, the character will keep stealing on and on, and if put if after attack, he will only steal if i don't order Attack as the leader...

so it's a bit tricky

there should be a gambit like "steal once, then follow leaders target" ^^ but there isn't (yet?)

^ i don't know about the XP, but it's not specified anywhere that you loose XP if you use quickenings

btw, i have another question:

do you always use the 3 same characters and don't bother with the 3 others (xp, licenses?)

i have 3 chars at lvl 20 and 3 others at level 10 i don't really like replaceing characters in battles (if 3 have vanished) because KO'd characters don't recieve XP i believe ?

i'm about 20h in the game, have met a banga with a travel bag in rabanastre, he's trying to study the sandstorms in westersands, then i have to talk to some other guys for some info, they want me to find 2 parts of a winvayne (?) hidden under a Dynast Cactoid

i have found some cactoid which i can check but they tell me "didn't find anything" ... and now i don't know what to do

mini quest help request

unfortunately, the only thing i found on Gamefaqs is about the cactoid bounty, this is not the same, the one i'm into is not a bounty

also, a new mini side quest, i have found a letter in the house where the little Seeq was hiding (afraid of the ghost)

this letter is about i guess the water knobs in the sewers ... inscriptions (east southeast east,etc...)

if anyone has info on this, when i go to the knobs, it tells me i need a key to operate them
