Just got this game yesterday, and I must say, I'm impressed. Though, it has taught my how sorely out-of-date my computer is, what with the lag.

(1.8 GHz processor, 768 MB RAM, GeForce FX 5500...)

Anyways, just a bit of a question--is levelling your classes supposed to take this long? I'm a Ranger right now, and I've been questing all day, but I have all of about 40% on the EXP bar for one level.

That and getting Meseta's taking a bit of time to get, though I'm going to chalk that up to being level five right now; yay for bows, though--those seem quite nice.

Most amazing jew boots

Any suggestions for decently quick(er) levelling of the classes? Getting 2 mission points each time I S-rank things where I am is making me cry.

Granted, getting new weapons does help that go quicker.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Alright. Thanks for the tips, guys.

Now for a question regaurding my computer. It's a 1.87 GHz Athlon XP-M, 768 MB of PC2700 DDR, GeForce FX5500 as mentioned before. Winter Storm commented that a CPU upgrade would probably make the most difference here, but my question relates to what you guys are using?

Debating if I want to try hunting around for a Socket A CPU, which seem to be getting very rare, or splurge and upgrade to a 939 64-bit machine. Apologies for asking that here, but just trying to get the most performance I can. :P

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I personally like mechguns; to that end, I used Plasma Fury with it on my Ranger, due to being up close, the state it inflicts seems most useful there.

As to twin handguns, I use Twin Freeze on those (same character), just because I strafe mobs and fire those incessantly.

Just my recommendations. I got my Ranger up to 9, and Force to 20. Just trying to get the Force class to 10 so I can switch over to Fortetecher is taking forever. ;_;

I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body?

I shouldn't have gone out and bought the Japanese version, I really shouldn't have.

Now I'm juggling between staying on the Japanese one (my Japanese sucks is the only problem here, though it would be a real fast crash course), or going back to the English one (where I could probably play with friends). Are there any major differences besides the content available on them that people are aware of? I had heard the hacking was less prevalent on the Japanese one, which was what got me interested in it to begin with.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Hi guys,

Coming in with a bit of random questioning. I recently quit FFXI (took too bloody much time to do something insignificant), and was wondering if PSU might be a better fit. Main problems I had with FFXI were that:

* Takes too long to get anywhere, or do anything (too party-heavy);
* Outdated-ass graphics;
* Boooooooooooooring craft system;
* Really, really slow gameplay.

Now, I played PSU a long time back on the PC, and it was damn fun, but the whole economy seemed shot, and I didn't really understand any "Crafts" the game has. Basically, I'm a bit casual in my play; not on 24/7 like FFXI or WOW require, but on enough that I want it to be fun, and to be able to just go out and mess around without needing to wait an hour for a party.

How good/bad is PSU/AoI in this regard? I'm playing on 360, if that matters any (different servers, apparently?)... and perhaps most importantly, if a party is required, how vacant/populated do servers tend to be?

Thanks for any help.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Thanks for the response, Parn.
As to graphics, I don't know why, but PSU's seem far more appealing. Colour just seems a lot richer, and the game didn't seem to have such horrific lag issues as FFXI does. Case in point, if you have every effect on and a decent video card, you get crazy mad stutter.

Though, just out of curiosity, is Xbox Live Gold required for PSU, or does Silver work?

How ya doing, buddy?

Just out of curiosity, need I pay for the Guardians Licence through XBL, or can I do so off Sega's site (or even with MS Points)? After all the negativity I've heard about MS screwing up with credit cards over Live, I'm not really the most trusting.

Though, on a plus I got the game earlier today, and it seems to play a lot smoother on Xbox than it did on a good PC, oddly enough.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

This is on Xbox live (which it appears PlaySega doesn't support), so I'm a bit stymied. Off to send an email to them and hope I get a response! >_>

Ah well, should sleep anyways.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

The AotI opening is... interesting. Really odd song.

Ahem, anyways. For those of you on the 360, how in the crap do I change between local and party chat when using the virtual keyboard? Still have yet to figure that one out.

Loving the 14 MP from Scarred Earth C, though.

Hm... got a question for you all. I've got my CAST up to level 48 now, and used to be a Fortegunner (have that up to 6). Looking for a bit of a change of pace, I tried out Guntecher and am enjoying it pretty thoroughly so far. Am I crazy for being (at least trying to be) a CAST Guntecher, foremost?

Second, does my weapon loadout seem good enough, or might I need to change anything down the road/right now?

Quote:
Crossbow / Wand (Resta/Reverser)
Card / Wand (Resta/Zalure)
Laser Cannon
[nothing] / Dagger
TCSM / Wand (the four buffs)
Nothing in the sixth slot in my palette, though I can't really decide on what to put there--same issue with the offhand for the dagger. Twin handguns are nice for mobility, but that kinda screws my ability to support, as far as I'm aware without needing to switch weapons around... not to mention cards keep me perfectly mobile as it is. Perhaps a bow or rifle?

And even though I know my spells will always suck, does TP matter for buffs at all, or just Gi/resta?

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, I figured that was the case. Hence the "Gi/resta." This assumes you meant me, of course.

Just gotta farm the PA frags for that spell. And Phantasm Prism. And the dagger one. ;_; Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I actually run into some of you online, one of these days.
