Earth Defence Force 2017. In all fairness, this is a love-it-or-hate-it kinda title, so the reviews aren't so much negative as they are all over the map. I love B-movies, I love the whole Japanese-dubbed-giant-monster genre, so basically this game could hardly have been better if it was made to please me specifically. In an industry increasingly starting to take itself too seriously, this is just the kind of thing I want to play. From the Doom-style sprite pickups to the hammy voice acting, to the excessive care given to explosions, to freakin' GODZILLA making an appearance, this game is just right. Also, it's hilarious as a co-op game. Jam it back in, in the dark.   |
