Well, it's good that there's a black navy one, I think.

They're all sold out and stuff in Japan, but that shouldn't come as a surprise really. Apparently they were sold out before the stores opened, although I'm not really sure what that means exactly.

I kind of wish I had preordered one now...

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I think that "stain" looks more like that peel-off plastic stuff that they stick on shiny hardware to make sure it doesn't cratch before you open the box at least.

But yeah, white things tend to pick fingerprints and such quite readily. I'm much more interested in the blue or the black (navy! Get it right!) one. I doubt it'll be very slippery, or if it is that would be a serious design flaw.

EDIT: 15-19 hours of battery life? playing DS games? On which brightness setting? Seems pretty excessive!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

No, really. I think he's joking.

The iDS is smaller. I don't see how this is a bad thing, really. I don't know what kind of pockets you have, but I find the original DS rather too big to fit into my pocket. Let me see what else is there... Backlight actually doing something when you play in the sun. Yeah that's definitely a sucky feature. Maybe he doesn't go outdoors, I don't know.

He also makes these awesome assumptions about durability and the stylus' positioning, especially for a person who has never seen or touched one. I have never touched one either, but then again, I am not the one who wrote that post!

I mean, I'm not a huge fan of the iDS design by any means (plasticky stuff kind of turns me off, and iPod bitin'-white should just die right now), and I wouldn't get one, but his arguments are pretty ridiculous.

That is, if he's serious. It sounded like a joke post to me, in which case it was hilarious.

He might be right. Then again, with the exact same information he has, I can say the iDS prints money. Sure, none of us ever saw one or held one, nor have we ever heard of such a thing happening, but that's okay, cause saying I'm wrong makes you a hypocrite. Because YOU DON'T KNOW EITHER.

In all seriousness, he made all kinds of assumptions, and I didn't. Hence my not being hypocritical.

Well... aside from the joke post thing, I suppose. But that was really the most logical explanation! Occam's Razor.

I was speaking idiomatically.

Well, I guess it sounds silly, but it IS smaller than a PSP, which is already quite small, or at least the buttons are squeezed quite close together. I have pretty big hands and from the photos, I can sort of imagine the buttons simply being a bit too close together for comfort.
I actually kind of think that for the original DS, too, though it's certainly nothing that seriously hampers my playing. Just slightly further apart would have my preference.

Anyway, those photos make the original DS screen look pretty bad, probably due to the camera auto-adjusting exposure time for the amount of light that the DS lite screen is generating (or, with the daytime pics, the sun). That's how cameras work, basically.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I haven't held one so I can't say. I'm not a huge fan of baseless speculation ( ), but I can see where Qwarky is coming from basically.

Yeah really, I would like to see someone use 2 styl...i... on his "DS-2" while on the bus.

A touchscreen where you can touch multiple places doesn't seem to me like it would be that much of an improvement in functionality, but perhaps innovative game designers can think of some situation to make it worthwhile.

Honestly, I don't really think the DS needs a sequel, except just to upgrade the hardware so it can run better graphics/larger cartridges, I suppose.

Disagreed. It's a matter of taste, but I prefer the pseudo-metal design of the original DS over the Lite's "breakable plastic pile of Apple shit" design. =D

Uhm, I don't know where you're looking, but Nintendo says they're the same size. I doubt they would lie about something like that.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I'll put my two cents in. I've been playing Ouendan on my DS (up to hard,) and I haven't come across any noticeable scratches. There might be tiny scratches that I'd need to find with a good source of light and looking at it from different angles, but those don't count.
Seconded, I've owned 2 DS'es (I gave one to my parents for their birthday) and I've played Ouendan on hard on both of them, and they are both perfectly okay. Putting downward pressure on your stylus (beyond contact) just hampers your ability to play.

Screen protectors can be nice (certainly beats buying a new DS after you fucked up your screen I'd say), but I've heard it's a bitch to put them on the screen without making air bubbles.

The charger is the same as the GBA one. If you have a GBA you can just use that. Otherwise buy a charger from Lik-Sang or whatever.
