Well, I just started playing it because a certain someone told me it was really awesome, and not lame like most other recent FFs. And it totally is, I love the combat system and the voice acting is really good as well. Even the soundtrack, which is by (in my opinion) one of the most overrated videogame composers ever is pretty good.

I'm not very far into the game yet, I'm at the Yansea desert (not sure if that's the name but it's something like that). I tend to rush through games as fast as I can without levelling up, but in this game it's impossible to play it that way, the boss fights are just too harsh for it. I faced the boss of that desert thing at level 17, and got my ass handed to me in Tupperware jar. Right now I'm just levelling up and chaining on those dwarf guys.

Level 17?! Damn mate, you really do need to boost your levels! Did you get a Burning Bow from the Dive Talons in the Westersand? Or made a Fransisca from loot found in the Garamsythe Waterway? It would've made life a bit easier!

Nah, I did none of those things. It's just not my style to hang around unless I absolutely have to, and I never look anything up in FAQs either, so I just die a lot.

I have to agree that the story of FFXII is pretty weak, probably the weakest part of the game. But then I expect that from the team who made FFT, I don't think they ever made a game with a story that I found worthwhile. I do enjoy most the characters though so that's at least a step up from FF8 and 9.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

After some chaining (100+ on those small guys, fun stuff) I got 2 quickenings unlocked. I will try that boss fight again soon, I'm tired of this ol' desert.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
