First I've heard of that, but if true: indeed! Although I might get an American Wii anyway for personal reasons, I'd obviously like to know for sure whether the console is region-free or not.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I'm excited overall. I don't remember if I placed a preorder yet, though. Uh-oh...

There's nowhere I can't reach.

That's odd, I've never seen the difference and I use S-video now. Maybe I'll go back and forth between component and S-video and see if I notice. Then again I have glasses and they're not the cleanest ever. =D

I wonder if the Gamecube's Freeloader will work on the Wii.

Basically, both a speaker and a microphone are a membrane that can move back and forth, creating pressure differences (which is what soundwaves are). You can plug a microphone into a speaker socket and it'll work (badly). The reason it doesn't work well is cause the membrane of the speaker is too big and the pressure of the soundwaves going in doesn't move it enough to make a significant difference over base noise. And the microphone's membrane is too small and light, which means it can't move enough air to create a proper volume difference.

I sure hope that explanation made sense...

That's an X-Box screenshot of Instincts, not 360, so it should look as good if not better.

Aside from being blurry due to what looks like bad resizing, I don't even think the screenshots look shoddy so much as they look like a quick low-poly test build. If the final game looks like that, it'd be pretty ridiculous.

How ya doing, buddy?

I think even if it is a quick low-poly test build, it might have been a bad move to release those as the first impression shots.
I definitely agree that releasing these screenshots is a terrible move, and if I turn out to be wrong and those are shots of the final build, then it's completely embarrassing.

Looks better but it's a bit too dark to see if the textures are any good. Definitely better though...

... Which doesn't change the fact that Prey or Half Life 2 or whatever the fuck we're talking about should look as good or better on the Wii as it does on the X-Box.

In other news, Capcom's Resident Evil game for the Wii is reported to be a kind of "best-of" of the previous games. It is supposed to play like RE4. (moer infoez frm joystix)

I'm disappointed, but I guess I sort of expected it. Hopefully the immense success of the Wii will make Capcom change their mind, it certainly wouldn't be the first time they jumped ship.

Ahhhh! I'm purchasing an HDTV tomorrow (720p)~ So the Wii will not
look pretty on it right?... Is there a way to lower the res on the TV?
Like, dumb it down? Sorry, i'm new to to the whole HDTV scene.

But reading through the Wiki on Aliasing sure helps me understand it better.
Still, as i have stated earlier, is there a way to lower the res on the TV
while i'm playing on the Wii?
The TV will lower the resolution itself if the signal is SD, so there's no problem (other than it not being HD which is really what you want).
-oh!-
Question~ Do all HDTVs have component cable jacks?
I think so? Not sure. Just check for it before you buy I guess?

Looks pretty sweet.

HOWEVER, do you see the little gold colored contact point on the battery cover?

That spot is going to get gunked up with dirt and sweat, and you'll probably have to clean it off every time you set the remote back in the charging station. I just know how sensitive some of these no-plug chargers can be, my cordless home phone has to be set in just the right position or it doesn't charge.
Yeah, my wireless mouse has the same thing. I have to tap it on the head lightly until the red light comes on. It's kinda annoying, especially when you stop to think that this is supposed to make my life EASIER. Meanwhile, my phone has one of those old-school cable things with a plug at the end of it, and that takes 0.18 seconds to do.

I don't know in how far gook/sweat is going to cover that gold thing, though. The back of my Wiimote is completely clean. Wiimote isn't a real word according to Firefox, it wants to change it to Timoteo, which isn't even a real word either!

Anyway, I clamored for these things, and there they are. Regardless of details, I'm happy!

Jam it back in, in the dark.
