I don't talk to people I don't know unless I have to - like if I'm in a store or something, in which case I'm polite as possible, because I worked in retail for a year and I know how bad it can be.
I can't remember the last time someone randomly greeted me or anything, but I probably would pretend I didn't hear them. I'm not anti-social or anything, but I'm a lousy talker. So I keep my mouth shut and try not to make an ass out of myself. Maybe other folks who aren't especially friendly are the same way. Or maybe I'm just one nebbish motherfucker. Jam it back in, in the dark.
