Twice I have downloaded before DVD release. One of the Lord of the Rings on a 3 CD release... never watched it... not sure why I got it... and now I own the DVD. And Inside Man, because I wanted to see the opening song and I didn't think of how pre-release it was... I left it on after the first song and about 20 minutes into it everything died. The quality was actually fine on it, DVD quality pretty much.

I never thought I liked video piracy until I started wanting to watch movies from the Criterion Collection and I realized I don't want to pay $40 a hit. Also, I download Hindi cinema since they still haven't learned how to not put non-skippable ads and get good quality on many of their films. And quality is important to me... I don't even think DVD quality is good anymore ever since I've started watching 1080p (actually 720p since 1080p won't fit onto my 19" monitor) video from Apple trailers and since I saw a nicely encoded H.624 HD anime fansub. The future is bright.
