I'm sorry about that too. Didn't realize he had vgm credits (however limited they may be, heh).

For the most part, it's a solid batch of songs this week. A couple really long ones (Galway, Socerian medley). I'll have to be sure I don't forget to vote this time.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Does it really matter whether we're against it (I am)? According to the time restriction vote, it's allowable, and he has enough vgm credits to be considered a professional vgm composer. So, this one was basically decided already by the time restriction vote.

EDIT: Oh, nevermind. I see that he was already composing for games before he composed this tune. So, this isn't as big a deal as if it was some random song he composed way before he became a vgm composer.

EDIT^2: I don't understand why people can't be content to nominate actual video game music instead of looking for something else, but whatever.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I also found another credit for Grandpre under the name Dan Gardopee (which is apparently his legal name): Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense, co-composed with Alexander Brandon. (I had no idea Brandon worked on the soundtracks to Vigilane 8 and its sequel. )
Wait, what? Wow, the credits for the N64 and PS1 versions of 2nd Offense have totally different composers (Alexander Brandon, Dan Gardopee for N64 and Christian A. Salyer, Eric Klein, Javier Marquez for PS1).

I've only heard the PS1's Redbook Audio; now I need to track down the N64 version's music (due to Alex B. working on it)!

I sadly have to agree. Between BSC and SAUS, it seems there's just too much listening to do.

Oh, I wasn't aware of the song appearing in SotW before. Thanks for pointing that out, Djinova. I've withdrawn the nom.

Here's my new nom:

Artist: Shinji Hosoe
Album: TAIKO: Drum Master Original Game Audio
Track: Dragon Spirit
Track #: 31
Disc #: 2
Catalog #: N/A
Year: 2004
Source: Galbadia Hotel
Comments: Not sure who the ripper is on this.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I might might might object to this, maybe. This is an arrangement of the stage 1 theme of Dragon Spirit (and a rather good one too that I'd never heard before). In Week 47, another arrangement of this track, virt's "Wings of Gold" from VGMix, was nominated but failed to place. There's arrangement going on in both, so there are similar parts, like the main melody line, but you can't really line the tracks up against each other like you could Super Turrican stage 1-1 and whatever your previous nomination was (Bionic Action from the "soundtrack" CD?).

Just thought I'd throw that one out there. Arrangements of tracks that have already appeared in SotW is an issue we've never really had to figure out how to deal with. I'm not trying to pick on you, really.
I understand not wanting the same song to appear in SotW twice, but these are much different arrangements. And the first was a VGMix (which was only allowed because virt is a vgm composer); this is from an actual game. And as you said, "Wings of Gold" didn't even place.

FELIPE NO

Quick point spread to get it in before closing; I'll edit with comments later.

3 pts. - Extras Mode
1 pt. - Rooftops
1 pt. - Galway is god 2000
1 pt. - MJ Thrill Ride

EDIT: I actually like the idea of just keeping each week open for two weeks rather than suspending SotW.

How ya doing, buddy?
