Tsugunai's representation in BSC (Fortress of Orcs, Eternal Soul, and one more, iirc) is the only thing going against it, I think. You could say "No way, it's Mitsuda!," but SotW eligibility is not determined by the composer.

Since not everyone here takes part in BSC, I'd say it would be ok.

EDIT: Voting time. Sorry for the short comments, but I'm not feeling very wordy right now.

Artificial Line - Decent mood piece.

Gyakuten Saiban 3 Courtoom Suite - Not as enjoyable as I had expected. Nearer to the ending was the best part.

Alex & Ken Stage -JAZZY NYC '99- - It's ok. Nothing special.

Water Ruins - Another, better mood piece.

Bathroom ~ Ending Track - Interesting, upbeat piece.

Tulla - Yay for being a string quartet, boo for being boring. :-/

Fake Time - I actually like a lot of DDR/Beatmania songs. This one's all over the place, but it's decent. At least it's more interesting than most of what's offered this week.

Stay Out of the Moonlight - The highlight of this week, and the only really enjoyable track. I love its style.

3 pts. - Stay Out of the Moonlight
1 pts. - Fake Time
1 pt. - Gyakuten Saiban 3 Courtoom Suite
1 pt. - Water Ruins

Yeah, definitely a ho-hum week. Oh well, there's always next week.

Oh, and welcome, EliJaH.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Latest music rips (updated January 10, 2012):

SimCity DS - Jazz/ambient/electronic music including interesting reworkings of songs from the fantastic SimCity 3000 soundtrack
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

Boo for Bathroom beating out Moonlight. But hey, 2 out of the 4 tracks I voted for placed. That's quite a rarity.

Btw, for this eligibility thing. I know sometimes we try to judge based on how well known we estimate them to be. But, really, we should just all state whether we personally know them. If a lot of people state that they do, then it's no good, but if most people say they don't, then it's fine. That's a real judge, rather than trying to discern the track's popularity based on our perception of everyone else's awareness.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

If we switched to your idea, we'd have an extremely difficult time getting any nominations at all, especially considering that almost everyone who votes in SoTW has pretty extensive experience with video games. Not to mention the added time wasted for everyone to vote "Yay" or "Nay" for every nomination that comes up... and the possible biases that could be introduced in using such a system.
Personally know the music, of course.

You don't think people stating whether they themselves are familiar with the music is better than a few people estimating what is known and what is unknown? Obviously, sometimes it's easy to make those estimations (which are more like statements in those cases), but there are often cases that aren't clear-cut.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.
