Blogger claims Kondo "stole" bass riff for SMB
Interesting story:
This guy randomly found a record that features a bassist playing the famous six notes of the underground theme from Super Mario Bros. The thing is, this record is from 1979, 6 years before SMB was released. For the curious, the record is called "Friendship," and the bassist's name is Abraham Laboriel. You can listen to a comparison clip at his blog here: http://maubrowncow.com/index.php/200...6-years-ealier Just how similar it is is up for debate, but it at least seems like Kondo may have been inspired by this "Friendship" album. People at the blog are saying people in the music industry sue (and win) over less. Regardless, I want that song; it sounds like good stuff. ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark.
