If you timed it right you were able to get halo 3 legendary for 20 bucks at toys r us. So yeah, I'd hold off on legendary myself.

I get the impression, though, that Invasion is going to work like Battlefield BC2's Rush mode, where while it's technically one gigantic map it plays more like 3 to 5 small maps that overlap physically.
And I mean, while it is easy to get back to your base once you get out of theirs, it's pretty freaking hard to get out of the enemy base against a competent team. If there's enough people to cover the entire ap, in theory, then there's also enouugh people to camp the everloving christ out of the flag so that no one's ever getting in to the base to begin with. Basically I think the point I'm trying to get to is that you overestimate the strategic ability of Halo players This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Provisional Division assignments, like the ones you received, are derived from qualifying population. At some point you were Gold among those who'd qualified. Now, as more people have qualified you've moved back.
Among your 1550 or whatever yesterday, you probably laid a few eggs, those games counted, too. Additionally, your daily rating doesn't take into account the quality of opponents (the formula is on bungie.net there's no value for 'Am I playing Steel or Onyx dudes'). So even in Steel - guys are going to have big games and put up 1700s - and that's good. A high Day Rating is like being a great minor league pitcher, your Mom is proud, but you aren't on SportsCenter. From Luke Smith, over on GAF, in case anyone's curious. Oh! I just read the BWU closer, and I think this is how it works. 1. Play 3 games in a day to get a daily rating. This lets you compare how you're doing on a day versus another day, but otherwise doesn't do much. 2. During each of those games, you're ranked based on your rating, rather than your kills, as you can see during a game. This is what's put into TrueSkill. 3. TrueSkill is used to determine the divisions. 4. As more people start playing, the threeshhold for the divisions changes. As more and more people qualify better than you, you start to risk dropping down a division. How ya doing, buddy? |
Speaking of which, unless you take your games really seriously (Skills), most of the time it's fun enough just shooting the shit with friends while you shoot shotguns at people regardless of how well you're doing.

From what I hear, there is another wipe incoming on launch day.
It's pretty awesome so far. matchmaking is show to start matches, but the choices in the armory are ridonkulous. I had like 5000cR before doing much of anything though, not sure what that's still about. It pops up a message telling you thanks for helping us iron out bugs, so at least theyre not being hostile to people who got early copies. Who ruined my fun of telling daravon I had this? Seems to me like it'd be better if there was Team Slayer, which would have the off chance of having SWAT/Snipers in it, and then a "Pro" list where it's nothing but SWAT/Snipers/Pro stuff.

The challenges were only worth 5,000 today, but I wasn't taking into account commendations when I was doing the quick mental math about that. Nor how much cR score attack gets you.

And let's be honest, Devo, if you're playing Gruntpocalypse more than once or twice in a row you're either easily amused or grinding cR/Commendations. Daravon, I can't help but compare the rank cap in this to WoW raid progression, where a select group of a few people hit the wall early and wait eagerly for Blizz to release the next bit of raid content (all the while complaining that there wasn't enough for them), while the majority of players take their time to get there and half the time don't even see the wall before it gets moved. It remains to be seen the pace that they move the wall at, obviously, but I see similarities there. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
