Presto, I actually got more of a Tex Avery feel from. The slapstick was more VIOLENT than I'd expect from Chuck Jones. Either way, though, the little red quilt background at the start was an awesome nod to the old Disney cartoons that I grew up with, and the whole Presto short was a solid block of laugh-out-loud awesome.
WALL-E, though, is quite simply one of the best movies ever made. Period. The first 40 minutes, especially, stand out as a stroke of genius animation, the kind that has fallen by the way side in recent years. Animation has ALWAYS had the ability to tell its story through actions and sound more than speech, and that's what this movie does throughout, but most prominently in the first act.
