Yeah. Let's also not forget that the entire purpose of the PS3 is better graphics. The best way to acheive this is through HDMI, whereas the Wii... isn't exactly oriented towards more powerful graphics.
To be blunt, Sony not including what many consider to be an essential component for something which the entire system is based upon is not exactly the same as Nintendo not including a component for prettier graphics, when their system is decidedly not oriented towards such a purpose.. Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
Hah, my sister and brother-in-law are preordering two Wiis when they get back from China (one for them and one for me).
I get mine for free. ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
I'm picking the best way. My brother-in-law is going to camp at one store, I'm camping the other, and my sister is going to drive as a go-between giving us snacks and sweets while we wait.
![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
So, I got my Wii preordered. Here's the full details:
I got off of work at around 12:30 AM last night, and went home, thinking that I would skip sleeping and just go to the Toys R Us at around 6 AM, and nap there. Around 5, though, I gave up, and caught an hour's nap. I slept through the alarm, and was only woken up by the cell phone I had left under me while I slept vibrating. I answered the phone sleepily, and heard the voice of my brother-in-law. "Wakey wakey," he said. "It's time to preorder a Wii." I went off to the Toys R Us on an hour of sleep and vague directions from a hasty glance at Mapquest. Got there around 7:30 AM, and was first in line. It was raining really hard at the time, thanks to the terrific Seattle weather, so I sat in my Civic and idled the engine so that I could keep an eye on the clock and run the heater without running down the battery. I pulled out my DS, got the good-good ending for Phoenix Wright 2, and tried a little Metroid Prime: Hunters... and still think it sucks. Stupid control system. A few minutes after I pulled up, another guy pulled up in a Honda Odyssey next to me, and he got out, holding an umbrella over his head, and walked over to my window. "You here for the Nintendo Wii?" he asked me. "Yeah. Got here a few minutes ago," I replied. He went back into his van, and I shrugged, turning back to my DS. As time passed, more people trickled in, one after another. Finally, around 9, I put on a raincoat, got out of the car, and walked over to the front door. Everybody else followed me, and before I knew it, all 5 people there were standing behind me. My brother-in-law called again, and gave me an update. "I got here around 3:30 in the morning, and I was 4th in line," he said. "I'm gonna preorder Red Steel and Trauma Center. You want me to preorder Zelda for you?" "Nahh, shouldn't be necessary," I replied. "I got here around 7:30 and I'm first. Stupid store hasn't opened yet, though." "That might be bad," my brother-in-law said. "They might not be having a preorder at that store..." I shrugged, and said "If they don't, they don't." Around 9:30, the employees in the store started to stir and show themselves. One came outside in the rain bearing a heavy coat, and said to us, "What are waiting here for?" "We're waiting for the Wii," I said. "Oh, okay." And with that, he pushed his shopping cart, and emptied the garbage bags into it. A few minutes later, my sister called. "You doing okay there?" she asked me. "Yeah," I said. "I'm a little tired, though." "I'll bring you some coffee," she suggested. "That would be terrific," I said gratefully. While this was going on, more people were trickling in. 3 cars pulled up, saw the line, and immediately drove away, and I remarked, "It's amazing how five people can drive away so many people." That number quickly swelled to at least 12 people, though, as more joined us in the line. Finally, 10 minutes before the store opened, my sister drove up, bearing coffee with eggnog mixed into it. Sweet, sweet salvation. Feeling much perkier, I waited with my sister. My brother-in-law called, letting us know that he had picked up his preorder already, and had preordered Zelda anyway. Finally, they allowed us in, and I led the procession over to the video games section. I paid my 50 dollar deposit, and another 5 for Splinter Cell: Double Agent, and was given my slips. My only regret is that the store I preordered from doesn't open on launch day until 10 AM. ![]() How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
At least you people can get online. My stupid router refuses to work with my Wii.
![]() I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() |
I am incredibly ticked right now.
My frikkin' Wii decided two nights ago to just up and refuse to read ANY discs, gamecube OR Wii. I've emailed Nintendo, but they haven't gotten back to me yet. *sigh* And I was having such a good track record with Nintendo's reliability, too... What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() |
'Round Seattle here, for 150 bucks you can damn well expect full service or at LEAST a BJ, not this tug of war bullshit. So open up or charge less. ![]() FELIPE NO ![]() |
Actually, when I went to get my Wii replaced today (sup living within 10 miles of NOA's headquarters), I placed in an order for my component cables too. ='D
Oh, and Twilight Princess is even more godly after being away from it for a week. ![]() How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
I got my component cables in the mail today.
My TV also doesn't support progressive scan. ...Oh well, at least my games look a LITTLE better. =\ Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
![]() Alternatively, you could move to Seattle and just take it to NoA's corporate headquarters! =D There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() |
You can transfer save games to the SD card by using the Memory Management. Also, you can use it to import music songs in Excite Truck, although I haven't taken advantage of this.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() |
First off:
Make sure your router is using the older A/B/G bands, and not just the N band. The Wii apparently doesn't support it. You can also call up Nintendo and ask them. If all else fails... I dunno. Try grabbing a USB dongle? =\ How ya doing, buddy? ![]() |
