While it is true the torrent speeds depends on other people...
Make sure you cap your upload at about 80-90% of what your line is capable of. Right now I'm on a line with only 128K upstream so I have to cap my upload speeds at 10K/sec. If I don't, my upstream becomes too choked to send the request packets and the torrent I'm trying to download and my Internet browsing slow down to a crawl. Also, uTorrent supports protocol encryption. It's under Options and then Preferences and then Bittorrent and then it's at the bottom right. I'd recommend setting it to Enabled and then checking "Allow incoming legacy connections." If your ISP is being a big prick and choking Bittorrent speeds, then this should help. (At least in theory.) Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() |
