Your friend is trying to do the right thing. But obviously, the immigration lawyer that she's paying isn't doing a very good job. I would recommend her trying another one. If that doesn't work, then I would recommend her going through the process of becoming a citizen. I know that some of the process is pretty freaking ridiculous, but if she's smart enough to get into pharmacy school, she should be able to handle it. I just don't know if she's in danger of being deported during the time she's undergoing this process if she's still living in the US. (But if she made it this far, surely she can hang on a little longer.)
About marrying her, I don't recommend it. Yes, she would become a citizen, but if you two have no interest in each other beyond friends, it's not worth messing up both of your love lives, especially when there are other ways for her to become a citizen.
