I like the way they've added depth to objects like houses by moving the screen downward so instead of you playing with an "overhead" type view, you get more of a "chase/reverse-chase" perspective.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Here's a little clip of the female main character walking through a town. I really like the look of it, everything seems to flow really well onscreen.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I agree, it would be extremely convenient. I always hated having to use the Link Cable AND trying to find someone else who was willing to trade. Wi-fi is making everything so much more simple.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Those are some interesting clips. One thing about the original promo that threw me a bit was when he used the stylus to put a crown on top of the "squirrel" type. Must be a new variation to the ribbon system.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like that beret at all. You can barely see the character's face because they made it so big.

I could've sworn I read somewhere that after a long time they will rechallenge you again. Correct me if I'm wrong

Hm, it looks like they've gotten rid of the HM's Strength and Dive

I'm not particularly impressed with the new gym leaders. Apprently Nintendo is beginning to run out of ideas here.

Hyota = Brock and Giovanni (Rock/Ground)
Natane = Bugsy and Erika (Grass/Bug/Poison)
Sumomo = Misty and Wallace/Juan (Water)
Makishi = Bugsy and Erika (Grass/Bug/Poison)
Merissa = Jasmine (Steel)
Tougan = Brock and Giovanni (Rock/Ground)
Suzuna = Pryce (Ice)
Denji = Lt. Surge and Wattson (Electric)

It's not that I'm disappointed about this, it just sucks that it lacks variety. I have yet to see a Dark-type gym leader in a game. Throwing in another Psychic-type leader wouldn't hurt either. Hopefully Diamond and Pearl's Elite Four are a bit more diverse.

I'm still holding out hope for a Gold/Silver soundtrack. Maybe after Jun'ichi Masuda sees the response to his live symphony he'll jump on Nintendo to finally put one out.

* Kikuno, the second member of Elite Four specializes in Ground-type.

* In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, Shirona is the Champion and has mixed-type Pokémon.

The levels of the Pokémon used by Shin'ou Elite Four are slightly higher than R/S/E series, ranging from Level 53 to Level 66.
Big disappointment here is the complete lack of a Dark-type Gym or Elite Four member.

Same thing applies to Milotic. Now that there's an item that constantly damages the holder (Fire Orb), it triggers Marvel Scale and with the new Water Move called Aqua Ring (works like leftovers once activated) you can go to town.

I see, especially in regards to Milotic. However, do you have any idea exactly how much HP would/could be restored each turn by Aqua Ring as compared to a standard move like Recover?

I was speaking idiomatically.

Recover's half of the maximum, HP, IIRC. There's several new moves that do this now, the most common one being Feather Rest.
Ok. It's just that in your last post about it you didn't clarify that Aqua Ring functioned EXACTLY like Leftovers on all terms.

Another thing you mentioned about it was the fact that Milotic could hold an item like Flame Orb that would activate her Marvel Scale abilty. If you are using both Flame Orb and Aqua Ring would the damage done and health recovered cancel each other out and leave you with a net gain of always having Marvel Scale activated?

The Town and Route themes I don't mind at all. It's the Battle music that sounds too cutesy-poo.

Even Ruby/Sapphire had battles themes that sounded somewhat epic, but I might be stepping too far.

The best battle music was most defintely in the R/B/Y and G/S series, without question.

Either way, I don't mind. Pokemon has always had one of the best soundtracks on any Nintendo console/handheld, so I shouldn't be worrying.
I agree that Pokemon has always had a great soundtrack. It just takes some getting used to with them using new and different synth instrumentation with the advance of sound technology for handheld gaming.

I mean, R/B/Y and G/S were straight synth chiptunes, R/S and FR/LG expanded on this by giving it a more orchestral synth style (If you can call it that) by using things like synth brass, strings, and a timpani-like percussion.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I heard there are a dozen fucking legendaries. Fuck that.
I do believe you can actually breed one of them as well.

I understand Nintendo trying to vary the game's dynamics by making exceptions regarding the pokemon's stats and the like (Magnemite/ton being able to float so ground attacks are ineffective), but I think adding more legendaries defeats the purpose. You could basically build a team of all legendaries now.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I decided to get a Magikarp despite the mass exp needed for lvl. up and being stuck with Splash until Level 15. Should I put in the effort now, or is there a area later on where the Magikarp you catch are level 15?
I'd say it has more to do with what kind of fishing rod you're using as opposed to what area you are fishing from.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Oh no, I know that the Old rod only nets Magikarp but I remember they were either Level 5, or Level 15 depending on where you fished in the other games.
Ah, I forgot sometimes the Old Rod will rarely dish out lvl 15 Magikarp. I don't think it matters where you fish though. Where did you pick yours up?

Not sure if any of you have heard, but they've made catching a Feebas even more difficult. Instead of 6 stationary spaces on Route 119 in Ru/Sa/Em, there are 4 spaces in Mt. Coronet that change every day. :\

Ah okay, since I never used one I didn't know any better :P

Anyone still using their starter? I pretty much ditched mine... just keep it around for random battles against Steel types...

That Feebas thing sucks, I hope there's a list of the places to look, and it's not just any pond in the world or something because I would just ask for one over GTS in that case .-.
Sorry I didn't update quick enough. You can find them in Mt. Coronet. I think I might end up asking for one over GTS as well. That is just too tedious for my liking.

I never bother with EV training. Does that make me bad?
Not at all. You shouldn't worry about it unless you decide to be serious about online battling. Since you can basically beat the entire game with just your starter anyway it's just an optional perspective to look at.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
