The biggest waste of money I ever witness happened a few years back when two of my friends blew their entire student loan (6 or 7 grand) in a bit more than a week in the video lottery machines at our student bar. They kept influencing one another to play more. Both left university that semester since they had no way to sustain themselves. One never went back, and the other was back the next year and feeling pretty stupid.
