Ah, i remember the first couple times I drove. I had a tendency to not use the brakes because I thought the car would slow down if I let go of the clutch and willed the damn car to stop. Hahaha, I think I freaked the instructor a whole lot. He'd step on the brakes for me, instead. It's fun, though, learning to drive, testing the patience of the drivers around you. I'm just glad I was able to get hanging and parallel parking the first try.
