I live in the Philippines---we have really good (not salty) soy chips here. Also, the soy ice cream here is unusually good. I don't know if you guys have it there, but if you do, you should try it.

There are a few soy desserts here but they're notorious for their 'non-diet' qualities (it's hella sweet!). Look up soy custard or 'tawa' or 'taho' or 'dau hu'. I think they have a recipe onliine but since i'm here, i just usually buy it from the street vendors. It's the only food i'll buy from those places since I know they have to use only the cleanest water to wash and prepare the soy beans.
Then again, now that I look back, looks like Timid Geek made another version. So if you're able to get a hold of some silken tofu, go ahead and add whatever syrup you want--i like caramel with sweetened tapioca pearls. or try ginger syrup--ginger is an herbal medicine so that should compensate for the sugar intake...I think. ![]() There's nowhere I can't reach. |
