I find it hilarious that Lindy Ruff won the Jack Adams. More like Joke Mode Adams. Who is he kidding.

lol bz

Anyone else see the article on nhl.com about how NOBODY has contacted Manny Legace yet? The guy had a great regular season despite the Red Wings loss in the 1st round to the Oilers, and just like that he's apparantly outcasted from the entire league.

Read about it here

Mike Modano AND Eric Lindros on the Stars.

Hard to pick who I loathe more.

Edit: It's official. Lindros signs with the Stars.

So TSN is reporting that Neil Smith is finished already as the GM of the Islanders. After making so many moves in free agency, it's suprising to see his tenure be over already. I'm interested to know what the official reason is when they make the formal announcement, if they do give a reason. Maybe they'll still have a spot for him next season on those awesome OLN broadcast panels.

Okay so now TSN is reporting that Pat LaFontaine is going to be resigning from his position with the Islanders. They all had such high hopes and where are they headed now?

Oh, that's right. Straight to GARTH MOTHERFUCKING SNOW.

Hasek is going back to Detroit.
Sorry pal I haven't been paying as close attention lately as I normally do.

I'm a bit sad about Recchi leaving even though I did call it the day he was traded here. He was strong in the playoffs, but 2+ million for a 1 year deal at his age? No way we were gonna sign off on that.

Hasek going back to the Red Wings AGAIN should be interesting, if he can stay healthy. That team certainly doesn't seem to be getting much younger though.

I was speaking idiomatically.

This is really dissapointing. On one hand i'm glad that we won't have to see Malkin in the east this season, but I was looking forward to seeing what he can do in the NHL. This also raises the question of who the Pens will have at the center position behind Crosby.

I guess this just means that Gonchar is gonna have to step up and just play 50 minutes a game.

My friend and I have made a bet about Samsonov. He says he'll score more than 30 goals and I laughed at his pathetic carcass and said "You're on". What do you think?
I think this image best sums up my opinion on the Habs.

Poor Huet.

I do like reading their forums though!

JUSTIN WILLIAMS INTENTIONALLY TRIED TO MAKE SAKU KOIVU BLIND......

Ok pal. Seriously though Samsonov is a decent pickup, but he certainly was pretty quiet for the most part in the playoffs. Could he have 30+ next season? Perhaps, but I'm gonna have to agree with you and doubt it.

Looks like Malkin will be a Pen next season. TSN is reporting that Malkin is exercising his two-week option that allows him to walk away from his contract with his Russian team.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=174392&hubname=

I like how he's at an UNDISCLOSED location in the US. Gonchar keepin him locked up in the basement prolly.

J.P. Dumont is now a Predator. Now we'll have to see if any other of the remaining free agents get signed. Like Anson Carter and his stupid agent demanding 3 mil a year.
SABRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS SSSSS

Well he should help the Preds out in their struggle in the Central division, aka their struggle against the Red Wings.

Who knows the Blues/BHawks/Columbus might not completely suck this season

I still wanna know where Anson Carter ends up. He's running out of time so we'll know before too long.

also this message goes out to fire + ice you need to join GFFHL 07 or else

Edit: Canes just resigned David Tanabe after the Bruins declined to pick up the 1.2 mil 1 year contract he won in arbitration.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this, considering we have a very solid D core with Wesley, Hedican, Wallin, Kaberle, Commodore, and Tverdovsky. I know Kaberle may need surgery that he's trying to avoid so I suppose the signing may be for insurance purposes.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Guys i'd just like to announce that I just signed a 20-year deal with the New York Islanders to be their stick boy for $500 million dollars.

Here's what Islanders owner Charles Wang had to say about me:

Quote:
"Ronz was a clear cut choice from the beginning. His commitment to the game and his internet reputation really push him to the top."
Garth Snow also held a press conference earlier to discuss my signing.

Quote:
Who the fuck made me the GM anyway?
Seriously though what the hell is this guy thinking. I think DiPietro certainly has potential, but what if he fails to live up to it? No team is going to pick up that contract. He pretty much IS untradeable now.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Quote:
The Carolina Hurricanes have traded the rights to defenceman Jack Johnson and defenceman Oleg Tverdovsky to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenceman Tim Gleason and centre Eric Belanger. The Hurricanes were in need of some immediate defensive help after losing Aaron Ward to free agency and Frantisek Kaberle to shoulder surgery. Johnson did not want to sign with Carolina this season because he wanted to return to the University of Michigan.
I am seriously crying right now.

Oleg was a salary dump. He earned 2.5 mil last season and spent the majority of it either injured or a healthy scratch. Wouldn't be suprised if that happens again this season.

What bugs me is why we would trade away someone with the potential to be one of the NHL's next great defencemen for a third line center and a young d-man with one and a half years of NHL experience. I'm sure Gleason can be a good blue liner given time, but he's not nearly as widely touted as Johnson is. Not to mention we have plenty of young d-men we could give a shot in the meantime while Johnson finishes his time at UMich.

This may help us short term, but in the long run I'm betting we lost big time on this one.

YOU'RE WELCOME.

Honestly I added you on MSN just to scream GERBERRRRRRRRRRRR but you never got online thanks for ruining my great plan.

So we lost 3-2 in the shootout against the SABRESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Sucks to drop the first game, but I was impressed with how we played. Cam was solid, and some of the newer guys seemed to be fitting in pretty well. Couple games to get the chemistry going and we should be doing fine.

The injuries to Stillman and Kaberle certainly suck though.

Both teams had that problem. I guess everyone just has to remember that the refs are still going to call everything and you really can't get away with anything anymore.

The only game that was close was opening night against the SABRESSSSSSSS. Because we actually showed up.

In the past two games we haven't put forth a 60 minute effort. Hell last night we only played for maybe 5 minutes in the second period.

I dunno, i'm not gonna get bent out of shape about it during the first week of the season. Points count the same now as they do in March, but I do hope we get a win soon.

Sucks that the Pens lost to the Wings too. They played a solid game and Fleury was solid in goal yet again, they just had trouble getting past the Wings defense. I think if they keep it up they are gonna be a tough team to play against in the east this year, especially when Malkin returns.

Why is it that every time we play in Mellon Arena these days, someone has to get seriously hurt?

They said last night toward the end of the broadcast that Trevor Letowski was responsive to doctors and could potentially be cleared to travel with the team to Tampa Bay, but I haven't heard anything further than that.

At least we picked up the win. We needed it.

No Forsberg means that Gagne won't produce either. Somehow I don't see Mike Knuble putting up 300 points this season to compensate, so I don't think the Flyers are gonna be going anywhere but the bottom of the Atlantic division.

I thought they were keeping Spezza and Heatley together and bouncing Alfredsson around. At least that's what I thought i'd been seeing on the bits of Sens games I catch on Center Ice.

Also any teams want John Grahame? We'll take 3 hot dogs for him. That's 2 less than Garth Snow's going rate.

Did he ever really have a prime?

I really hate to have such a bad view toward him because he is a Hurricane and I try to support everyone on our team, but he has just not played well in his appearances for us thus far.

The whole team has really not played at the level they can so i'm trying to give him time, but ugh it's just frustrating.

Fire + Ice can you start getting the Sens back to old form again please? 2 games against Southeast Division teams and you blow big leads against both of them. Of course that FIRST southeast team you played last weekend...that one was acceptable

Seriously though I wanna watch the Sens win. I mean hell, the LEAFS are doing pretty well right now. This needs to be corrected.

Yea I don't know if I would pull the trigger on that deal. Detroit does typically pick low in the first round, but giving up 4 prospects for Luongo? That would hurt.

Of course I really like the Canucks so i'm quite glad he ended up where he did. Having him out of the southeast division helps too!

I know. It makes me sad to see Gerber brushed aside after his great season with us last year. Ever since the playoffs he just really hasn't been the same goaltender he was during the regular season.

At least Ray Emery has stepped up and given the Sens a bit of confidence in net. The loss to the Bolts last night was tough given some of the chances they had toward the end of the game, but they played fairly well. I just hope they keep it going. As long as they take tomorrow night off of course

Tomorrow also has one of the more interesting games of the season as it will mark Chris Pronger's return to Edmonton since his trade request. I doubt the folks at Rexall place will be very happy to see him.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
