Could you manage your own money?

I think I'm pretty rad at managing money. Of course, I wasn't that great to begin with. Budgets which I laid out for myself were rarely met. Unexpected leaks in my bank accounts occurred all the time. I had supplemented all the leakage (which was, in retrospect, spent largely on frivolous things) with credit cards, which is a very bad mistake and I strongly urge anyone who can't afford their lifestyle in cash to NOT GET A CREDIT CARD.

My family never asks me for money. No one asks me for money, really. Honest truth is that I give a lot of my money away. Not in cash, but in favors, in outings, and in a good time. I tend to spend whatever extra money I have on my friends and family. Their happiness is more important to me than a few extra bucks here and there. The good thing is that I can afford that now, whereas when I was younger and poorer, I could not.

Everyone around me is fairly responsible about money. There are times when my boyfriend may not be able to afford the electric bill at the moment it comes in the mail, at which point I'll cover it and he'll get me back later.

I learned my lesson about doling out dollars to the ingrates with a past relationship that revolved around milking me for cash. Eventually, I got sick of paying for virtually everything and ditched him.

There's generosity and then there's stupidity.
