I've been good friends with Shani Davis for about 10 years. He holds the world records for the 1000m, 1500m, and the 5000m for long track speedskating. I met Apollo "Chubbs" Ohno through him, but Chubbs is just an alright dude. Nothing more, nothing less.

I've met George Wendt (Norm from Cheers) at a local pub called Nevin's. I used to be a regular, and one day my friend Fred points out the window and says "Here comes Norm." I laughed for a second, but when I turned I nearly shat my pants. Fred was a bartender and told me that he stops by once a month or so. George is a really humble guy, and always takes time out to talk to loyal fans of his work.

I met the Godfather of Funk himself, George Clinton, at a Parliament/Funkadelic concert at the House Of Blues in Chicago. They went in to a long jam, and George snuck off stage to the bar. I was sitting down drinking a coke (I couldn't handle a hard drink under the hot stage lights) at the end of the bar (near the stage), and George sat down next to me. I didn't realize it was him and focused on my drink. He said "You look kinda nervous man." I still focused on my drink and said "George Clinton is on stage and I don't think I can handle it. He's fuckin amazing." He said "Thanks man." I turned to him and realized I was talking to George Clinton himself. We shook hands and he patted me on the back. I was so nervous, but he laughed real hard at my expression.

I did business with Harold Ramis, but I never actually met him face to face. I just wrote him a bill for computer work.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I completely forgot about a few people.

Adrian and Roko Belic are close family friends of mine. They film documentaries, and have won awards at sundance. You'll see my brother's name in the credits of Genghis Blues.

I met Neil Gaimen in a local comic book store, but didn't know exactly who he was until I started reading the Sandman series. I just thought he was an up-and-coming comic writer who just wrote his first novel. I try to follow the Chicago underground of various types of up-and-coming artists.

I keep forgetting to mention somebody. Oh well. I'll edit this when I remember.

Edit: Got it. Dan Weinberg was the first drummer of the band Kill Hannah. He was a friend of mine, but died of an asthma attack. He died before the band really took off.

There's nowhere I can't reach.
