I think I'm late on the pre-order thing, the stores near me aren't taking any more pre-orders -_-. I'm still hoping to get it on Sunday though, and it'll be nice to play some of you guys in the near future!

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ventrilo held up during LEEERRROOOYYYYYY JEEEENNKIINNNSSSS

This is probably why Nintendo didn't bother putting in voice chat for the game.
Why roll out a Wii-specific headset when you'll most likely hear some "Dude I haven't showered in two days I've been playing Smash Bros hyuck hyuck" or "FUCK YOU FAGGOT YOU FUCKING CHEATER!!! AAAAAGHGHHGHGHGH! SHUT THE FUCK UP MOM I'M PLAYING A GAME FUCK FUaaAAGHHHGHHhhhCK!!!"
Hahaha, while that's true, it would be nice if they had the feature for people playing with those that they traded FCs with. I mean, they allowed the custom taunt messages for these people, so voice chat should be alright.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm failing to see how suddenly this "new concept" of voice chat is terrifying. You guys are acting like this is new water to be treading in and that somehow any pleasant experiences you've had with a video gaming voice-chat platform are going to be ruined by this "inevitable" tragedy.
Well, I'm not terrified by voice chat, but I'm just thinking that Nintendo is terrified by it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

You have to realize that people of ALL AGES are going to be playing this game, so if they have some idiots online that love to talk like in Halo 3/CoD4, you can just about be sure that there will be a small loss in sales like that from parts of the market.
Yes, I understand that. I should be more specific.

I'm not afraid of voice chat on games like these because I have a somewhat high level of tolerance with this kind of stuff. In fact, I would like it to be a part of the game because it would make communicating with others for setting up matches a lot more convenient.

Nintendo doesn't want voice chat, and I understand why they do that. They don't want people to be offended or influenced in a bad way by playing the game with people they don't know. The one thing that I do hope they did was to have voice chat, and keep it strictly to friend-code matches. I mean, they do have the system in place as a way to restrict communication to those that already know each other. By adding voice chat in these matches, it makes it much more convenient for people that, theoretically, already know each other to play the game. The only way it could detract from the experience is if your friend or whoever you traded FC with is absolutely unbearable when armed with a mic.

Regardless, I just want to play the game...

EDIT: I just want to verify something. Doesn't some DS games already have voice chat support?

How ya doing, buddy?

I was honestly expecting IGN to give it a higher score. Docking it points because of SSE seems retarded when you consider that SSE isn't even Brawl's main hook. Oh well.
Well, in their podcast (yes, I listen to them, I'm a geek like that), they said that they rank Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy above this game, so I guess they set those scores as benchmarks for scoring this game. Regardless though, still a pretty damn good score.

I was speaking idiomatically.

So... Real stupid question, but I don't think I've ever seen the answer to this.

Once you go into 'Final Smash' mode, how do you actually perform the final smash? Is it just like... do a smash attack? Or is there some other button combo you have to use?
The final smash replaces your neutral B, or so I heard. So in other words, you can still do your recovery jump and whatnot, just not the neutral one without unleashing your final smash. Shouldn't hold on to it too long though, since I saw some vids where it can be beaten out of a character pretty quickly.

As a side note, I managed to pre-order the game :3 Hip I can get to play some of you guys in the near future!

EDIT: Does anyone know what the friends list limit is for this game, or whether there is one?

Hey guys, I got my FC too, but I can't seem to create an account on GFFwiki, so may someone please post mine on there too?

Name: Lyon
FC: 4167-4181-8754

I'll be adding people from the wiki page maybe tomorrow, kinda a bit late for me to do that now.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Is it just me, or does it seem ridiculously easy to pull off smashes now. I'm not saying they were hard before, but I found my characters pulling off smashes all the time, even when I'm just trying to do tilt attacks.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Ok, I've added everyone on the wiki list so far except for IdleChill, nazpyro, and StarmanDX because they weren't on the list when I printed it out. Also, as StarmanDX said, it seems that I'm having trouble with adding AniMechanic too.

Well, I'm going to focus on SSE first, and then maybe I'll see some of you guys online. :P

I think I'm almost done SSE, with probably everyone on my team that I could get before the final boss. But holy hell, the "mission" preceeding that is turning out to be a chore, got maybe halfway through it before quitting.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Indeed that's annoying. I've added everyone, and I've PMed all of them (thanks for the reply, guys), but I think some of the ones that added me back are still "waiting for registration". I'm not too sure yet, since I spent most of my gaming time today finishing up SSE, but damn, it just bugs me.

Can you play online with local friends?
Yes, but I believe only with other people on your friends list, and not with just anyone. Also, the battle won't start until at least one person from another Wii joins the match.

As a side note, apparantly, you can have multiple people on your friends list join the same battle, even if they don't have each other on their list. The game then prompts the players (I don't know if it's before or after the match) whether they want to add that other person to their own list.

EDIT: Found this on the GameFAQs board. I'm not sure if I should try this stuff out before getting into some online matches (not good with router config).

I was speaking idiomatically.

Yay, just played my first online session with some of the guys here. The lag was there, but everyting was still playable I guess. If it's slow, then it might be from my end. Too bad I lost connection at the end though.

Dammit! I really want to join in on this tourney, but unfortunately I won't be able to play from May to mid-August. T_T

I'd be happy to play anyone 1v1 before May though.

As a side note, whenever I use Ike's side-B, I keep on expecting him to do Dante's Dance Macabre move. Been playing too much DMC3, I suppose. =P

Also, who else hates it when their character trips up? It's kinda getting on my nerves.

Yeah, Distant Planet isn't that big. I just hate it because I've died a few times not knowing the water washes you off the left sloped section. >: (

And Wolf, I didn't know you are in Canada too. I was wondering why you're pretty much the only one I have in the green so far. That, or I just need to fix my router settings.

How ya doing, buddy?

Well its pretty easy to unlock the mode, but ugh some of the challenges for this mode are probably going to be cracked with a hammer. I'm still sitting on four of them, wondering what challenges to use one on.
You might want to read up on that. I recall reading that a lot of the Boss mode challenges are un-hammerable. Wouldn't be too much fun blowing through hammers trying to break these and getting nothing in return.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

I asked this question before. If it's an unbreakable window, you won't lose the hammer itself.
Good to know, I still haven't hammered anything in fear of losing the hammer itself even when the window doesn't break.

I'm free to play tonight from around 8 pm EST, hopefully play some of you guys. I hate how I have to stay online and can't attempt any of the challenges, so that's why I usually don't appear online. Might also be caused by With Anyone matches that lagged really badly, that was unbearable.

I'll be updating my Friends list with everyone on the most recent wiki list, if anyone cares.

As a side note (spoilered for containing unlockable character):
Spoiler:

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it. =P
