Depends on what your favorite Cthulu mythos stories are. Personally, I really love the ones that have the big reveal at the end. I think one is Mountains of Madness where the guy goes to visit a friend who has found mysterious artifacts and fends off alien creatures every night. Eventually, the guy makes it there and the story climaxes at the end when you find out that his friend, who was "sick" and sleeping in the recliner, was just a body.
That, or the one where the reanimated guy who died in a boxing match comes back and kills a kid and you don't find out till the end.
But now I'm off on another tangent.

The old silent film was pretty good.
I know Christopher Lee was in one, but dunno if it's any good.

Shitty thing is, I can think of several movies based on Lovecraft stories, but none of them share the same ambience/mood.
