The Ultra Street Fighter 4 Burger Challenge
Step 1. A bunch of us get together to play Ultra.
Step 2. Every time you lose a match on the Diner stage, you add 1 to your Burger Quotient. Step 3. You go to meet next year and eat that number of burgers (in a single sitting). Burger Amendment 1: On Pinball Wizardry Two burgers shall ever be the WAGES OF MARS. Whomever both punches and REIGNS OVER MARS* shall assign the fate of these Pinburgers, and so shall the Martian soil be stained forever with the blood of the punched. If the title of MARS LORD is seized by a nonpuncher, the burgers will not be shifted 'til next a puncher shall take the throne. *has the current high score among us on the Mars table on Pinball FX2. Amendment 1 repealed as of January 1 Burger Amendment 2: Conservation of Burgers As of the creation of the 52nd burger, the total number of burgers shall be frozen until such time as a 14th burger-holder enters the rankings (whereupon the burger cap will increase to 56, and etc). Future burgers earned will be deducted from the burger count of the match winner. Burgers are no longer created. In the event of the match winner having no burgers, said match winner may be allowed to enter a state of Negative Burger). Burger Tally Pang : 10 + 2 Lag Burgers Acer: 8 Diss: 5 + 1 Angry Burger Term: 6 Shade: 2 + 2 Pin Burgers ^___^: 3 Garr: 3 Mo0: 3 SuperSonic: 3 Rasputin : 2 Capo: 1 Juan: 1 Angry Burger Hawkeye: 1 Lag Burger Pack: 1 Total: 54 Burgers (or burger-equivalents) out of possible 56 GLOSSARY Angry Burger: As standard burger, except adapted to be unbearably hot and spicy via means as yet undetermined. Granted by loss in an Angry Diner match (a match containing only Oni, Akuma, or Evil Ryu). Lag Burger: As standard burger, but eaten in a slow, jerky, uncoordinated fashion. You must mash the burger into your face at least once. Granted by loss in a Diner match that was badly hampered by lag. Pin Burger: As standard burger, but flipped into one's mouth with an implement (the burger must be in midair briefly). Granted by punishment from the Lord of Mars. Perfect Burger: As standard burger, but the largest possible variety of that burger and with all available toppings in the maximum amounts. Granted by a Double Perfect loss in a Diner match. Burrito: Literally a burrito and not just a weird burrito-esque burger. Ideally of roughly the same bulk as the standard burger. Probably should be a beef burrito for consistency's sake. Granted by loss to El Fuerte in a Diner match. Shiny Burger: NATURE UNDETERMINED (sugar glazing?). Granted by losing a Diner match by 2 Ultra Finishes at the hand of Dan's Ultra 1 (Shisso Buraiken). Garr and I were talking about that last night; does it only count during bigger group play, or even individually? Cause if it's just the times that two of us are playing it means there's gonna be a lot of burgers for some people. It also means that Garr has earned a burger.
I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() ![]() |
Garr can correct me since it's his Potential Burger but at the time I believe we agreed to forego burgering since we were just experimenting with different things rather than actually fighting. I'll leave him off the list for now unless he feels differently.
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() ![]() |
We almost always random; I don't think anyone's ever deliberately picked the diner before. I don't imagine anyone wants to open that can of worms, because once it happens you'd have revenge diner selections going on and it would quickly turn into everyone has to eat literally a thousand burgers.

I'm horrified by what I think could be your implication for the loser on that stage.

Yes, but that also doesn't start with a B so you lose any compelling alliteration.

That is not the title of this thread! Don't be mad just because you got two burgers in an hour!

You're talkin a lot of shit for being the only person to get burgers on a character he actually knows how to play, Erik.

Been meaning to do this for a while - had already replaced the training stage music, and now I replaced the rest of the stage as well with a version of the classic Ryu stage some dude made. Looks rad.

I think that depends a lot on your target audience. This tournament wasn't a Capcom-sponsored major event, it's just a dude who puts on a tournament, so I imagine they were probably aiming it more at people who already know a fair bit about the game and don't need that sort of in-depth description.
Anything with James Chen and Ultradavid is probably something that you would appreciate more; I think they're still my favourite pair but I do like the style in the linked video as well. I have to head out for a bit but I'll link them calling a match later. Try this match out for some commentary that focuses more on discussing the game mechanics and character match-up, Shin. ![]() It turns out that leaked SF5 teaser was intended for that Sony Playstation Experience event. They did talk about SF5, and released some more gameplay footage that looks pretty interesting. I think some of the particle effects are overdone by SF standards, but this is obviously a really early build and the visuals (specifically particles) always change significantly by release. Not really sure how to interpret that launch off the ground - I hope it doesn't turn into Marvel. The game has also been confirmed as a PS4 console exclusive as well as being available on the PC, and the really cool thing now is that there will be cross-play support between the two platforms.
How ya doing, buddy? ![]() ![]()

Greetings, Burgerfriends. Since I like math, I have taken it upon myself to examine our burger numbers in more detail in an attempt to see what would happen if everyone had identical play times. Obviously this is not the case and those who play more tend to accrue more burgers just by the increased probability of a burger match coming up, and so on.
What I first attempted was to normalize burgers according to hours played as recorded by Steam. This, of course, was problematic as Steam hours don't take into account time actually spent burger punching, as leaving the game open, waiting in lobbies, spectating, and training all contribute to this value. As a result, this is probably not a reliable metric to use. What I decided upon was reconstructing, as best I could, people's actual time spent punching, which is why I asked all of you for the data that I did. Obviously there are many assumptions made necessarily that will increase the error of the results, but what can you do? Here are the input numbers as recorded at the time of analysis. Note that special burgers are the sum total of a player's earned non-normal burgers. If a player had earned a perfect burger and an angry burger, his special burger value would be 2. Input:
My methodology is as follows, using my own data as an example. Using your round victory data (perfect, normal, time, etc.) it's easy to sum them to determine the total number of rounds that you have won. In my case: Example data:
Since I also have data for number of fights and wins, I can calculate losses. Given a regular first-to-two match format, I can estimate the number of rounds won in wins (at 2 rounds per win) which leaves the rest of the rounds won as rounds won in a match that was ultimately lost (e.g. winning a round and then losing the next two). Example data:
Assuming a standard round duration (e.g. 65 seconds) with the exception of time wins (99 seconds) it is possible to estimate each player's total time spent in actual burger-eligible combat. Note that Pang's numbers are inaccurate and I have not yet attempted to control for that. The round time doesn't really matter a lot, as it is applied consistently for each player, but I thought it would be interesting to see how long actual fight time measured. Time data:
I then took the player's fight time (again, 84.2 hours to use myself as an example) and divided that by the average communal fight time (21.9 hours) in order to calculate each individual's Burger Factor, and divided their earned burgers by that value. Burger normalization:
I have taken the liberty of rounding up to the next whole burger in these data, but actual numbers are available if you are legitimately curious. I'll just upload the spreadsheet or something if anyone besides Skills cares enough to see it. When I sum these adjusted burgers, the total is 115.6, far higher than our total Actual Burger value of 49. I took the calculated value and divided by the actual value to get a Burger Inflation Factor, which was 2.36. I then divided all previously stated Adjusted Burger Values (raw, not rounded, obvs) to get a final burger score for each individual. Burger de-inflation:
The only problem with this is that since this creates a zero-sum burger relationship, Mo0 has taken the majority of the burgers (as you might expect) so everyone else's totals are proportionally deflated. I have not removed Mo0 as an outlier, but I will update this after doing so. If I just delete Mo0 outright, a desire with which we can all relate, then burgers are distributed as follows: Zoom out:
