I think Capo meant like the defensive liability of Gonchar and the non-production of Eaton put together would make Fitzpatrick. Which, if you took that and then quadrupled all the bad parts, is exactly what you'd have!

The Wings basically were the Yankees of hockey. With the salary cap teams can't really do that anymore, but I'd challenge you with finding another team more deserving of the title. And no, not the Rangers, because though they did spend some serious cash they still lost.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

His hair was the best part. He needs to grow it back; look at how badly he's playing without it.

I'm a little bit afraid that the Canucks might take a look at him, just because we're having so many problems generating offense lately. Last game we won 1-0, and it was our SEVENTEENTH one goal game of the season.

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

As far as Morrison and Cooke, people have a right to bitch about them just as much as they complain about Kesler, Chouinard, or Bulis. Morrison was a product of playing between Naslund and Bertuzzi, nothing more. He's never been a first-line calibre center, and is being grossly overpaid for what he can do. He's just like Tanguay playing with Forsberg and Hejduk, or Carter playing with the Sedins.

As far as Cooke goes, the only thing he's good for is generating some turnovers through hitting, and he hasn't been doing that at all. I'd have much rather kept Ruutu instead.

Well, as far as Sedin line names go, I was always partial to the Mattress Line.

A few of us talk about hockey pretty regularly in #gfchat in IRC, which now has a convenient (albeit ugly and apparently laggy) java client located up top there.

Last week he got more votes than Lidstrom and Niedermayer too, with like 113,000 to their respective 109,000 and 96,000. It could happen!

Linden doesn't have the shot or the speed that he once did, but he can still make some beauty passes. Granted, a disher isn't exactly who you need playing with the Sedins, but I guess it worked, and that's all I'm concerned with. =D

Anyone who thought Savard was a product of playing with his wingers can't have seen him play very much over the years. He's always had incredible vision and great hands. The main concerns I've always heard about him are his attitude (which he's apparently worked on a lot and managed to improve) and his penchant for getting hurt. So far, so good!

What concerns did Balsillie have with the NHLs demands? Have any of you guys seen a rundown anywhere of what they were?

And man, the last thing the NHL needs is another team stuffed into the northeastern US. Fuck Hartford. A team should never return to a market that a team previously had to move away from until it's relatively certain that they'll be supported by a fan base.

What is he supposed to decline? He wasn't voted in. This means he will not play, even if he wants to. He doesn't have to make a decision at all.

The starting lineup is the only thing the fans are voting on. The remainder of the players on each team are chosen by the respective coaches. I guarantee Rory will not be chosen to play on the team by Carlyle

To be fair, regular season accolades don't mean much of anything for any team when it comes to translating to playoff success. How many times in the last decade has the President's Trophy winner gone on to win the cup? Like three or something?

Cloutier's been garbage long before he was traded to LA, and even long before he was traded to Vancouver. We're so lucky that Crawford loves his dick and pressured a trade for him, or we might never have gotten rid of that pylon.

Just because people aren't as familiar with players doesn't mean they don't deserve to play. Huet's been awesome for a while now.

Even Roy's let in 9 goals in a game before. An anomalous game doesn't have anything to do with whether or not a player is all-star caliber.

I dunno about that, it's not like Calgary's dropping games left and right. If every other team in the Northwest didn't make it, though, I'd be pretty happy. Just 'cause I hate those bitches.

Having a star player fight his own battles is the dumbest thing a coach could ever do. If I were a GM and my coach had a player like Malkin fight for himself I would probably fire that coach immediately. Malkin's hands are far too valuable and being paid far too much money to ever risk him breaking a finger or a wrist throwing punches with some worthless goon.

That's why enforcers exist. The only thing they can do well is fight. If they could score goals, they wouldn't be an enforcer anymore.

You act like you've never seen a losing team have the game's first star before or something. The man had five points.
