I started playing in grade seven, that was when our school started up a "Magic Club", which I believe was the season when
Onslaught came out. My first deck was actually a precon from
Odyssey, flashback was a very fun feature.

I later moved onto Mono-Black Control, and then started going into Type 1, which was the format that our club played essentially to ensure that everyone that had cards could play.
We hosted an open tournament at our school, Type 1 open to all students (either from grades 1 to 12 or 6 to 12), and I managed to make it to the quarter-finals. Nothing surprising here, no one came in with any of the P9 cards, so this isn't some awesome feat or anything.
For next year's tournament, I went in with a mono-blue deck that consisted of 16 counters and 3 Misdirections (a fourth in the sideboard). I could've made it into top 8, but claimed I lost to my friend since he had a better chance at beating the toughest opponent in the event over me (he ran Stasis). Unfortunately, he didn't, but I didn't really care. The prizes were Mirrodin stuff anyway, which hardly interests me.
I hope to participate in real Type 1 tournaments in the future and possibly get into Type 2 also, but to be quite honest, I haven't exactly played since then.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
