Yeah I did this for a friend who had Dark Alex's 3.02 OE and it worked. So there shouldn't be a problem.

Good thing is that its from M33. I hope they don't forget about us old psp users =/. If that's the case, I'm ready to buy a new one any day in the week. Plus, they just finished off the popsloader . Dunno what's good about it but lots of people are happy.

Another good question is if Sony did something about the D-PAD for 2d fighting games. Did anyone buy it yet? I'd realy love to play Darkstalkers since you can only play with the d-pad and be stripped of doing a lousy forward jump and quater circle moves.

Well I decided that I should buy one sometime the next paycheck. Just have it lie around here and there. Besides, I wouldn't mind playing the upcoming psp games on the big screen plus MGPortable OPs and Dead Head Fred =]. I do want to know one thing. Will the game look all pixelated or what?

Whatever happen to good ol JazzFlight? He always had the best advices especially when he warned most of Generation of Chaos ;p.

Well thanks for that answer. I'm sure it'll turn out well in my hdtv...I hope.

So is the handheld itself 200 bucks? I sorta missed out on it and target was sold out of them >=/. If anyone gets this before me, let me know of the d-pad situation..

EDIT : Thanks for the vid, solis. So if the screen's looking like that, I guess that's a start. I'm somewhat impressed ;p. Maybe they should release a firmware where you can cover up those extra spaces.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

What’s new (according to “shun goku satsu”) –

You can now set custom themes in [Theme Settings] under [Settings].

A scene search feature has been added under [Video].
Sequential playback is now supported under [Video].
Simultaneous playback of content under [Music] and [Photo] is now supported.
Let us wait later on today for M33 to hack this >=p.

You know what would probably be the most awsomest idea evar. PSN games on the PSP. With full online infrastructure mode. THEN I COULD PLAY CALLING ALL CARS AT MDONALD'S. It's not like it can't do it, right? I heard that you can even play Lair remotely from anywhere that has WiFi...something like that.
But isn't the net browser for psp horrible? I've went on this forum through psp and it is horrible somewhat.

Quote:
So should I get rid of my 3.03 OE firmware and upgrade to M33 finally? Are these new firmwares you guys are talking about exclusive to the Slim PSP's mobo hardware? God I need to break out that thing again...
By breaking out, do you mean "I need to stop acting paranoid" ? Because it really is no big deal in upgrading to m33's cfw. It's safe and the xmb loading isn't bad at all . m33 already has there popsloader thing finished you can now play games that would run on 3.00-3.03 and the rest is safe. Unlucky for me, I dont know where to put the files ,etc so i care less for it,amigo. ^^;

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Hell, I think it would be totally awesome if they integrated the entire full-fledged Playstation Network into the PSP - things like PSN ID's, friend lists, PSN games, everything. Just the thought of playing flOw or Calling All Cars from some random location on my PSP online with my buddy who is on his PS3 at home would be pretty cool. Obviously certain games like Warhawk or that new inFamous game wouldn't work, but I would guess that certain games would, or could anyways.
I was going to download the game at one time but Super Stardust won over it... I wouldn't mind playing that on my psp..

Pspupdates or psp-hacks are the best sites to find them. I think you'll find my long post in the last two pages on what to do download and how to install.

edit: Nevermind, I'l save you the trouble ;p

1. Download 3.52 M33 Custom Firmware,Sony Firmware 1.50 and 3.52 EBOOTs

2. Open M33 Custom Firmware and take the M33 Creator folder and drag it into PSP/GAMEorGAME150 folder.

3. Rename the two eboots to 150.PBP and 352.PBP and drag them into the M33 Creator folder.

4. There should be another folder called KXPLOITPATCHER and KXPLOITPATCHER% . Drag those two into the GAME/GAME 150 folder.

5. Go to the PSP menu and head into "Memory Stick" and start up the kxploit patch so that it can let you upgrade to m33. Some don't have to but do it anyway. When you do that, screen will go black and it'll ask you to press the X button to install that little patch and you'll be taken back to the menu

6. Start up M33 CREATOR. Once again, Press X so that it can create "3.52 M33 UPDATE".

7.You'll be taken back to the menu and now you'll find the customfirmware update and install and after all that crap, you're good to go. Only then, you need to download M33-4 Update. Dont worry, that update will just install a few bug fixes and anything that prevents your psp from bricking.
So yeah, that's all there is since you want to upgrade to m33.

Yeah. Just hook the usb cable to your tower and when the folder comes up, go through the PSP folder . You'll see folders like GAME,MUSIC,etc. If there isn't a folder called PHOTO, just make one yourself and throw all the images in there.

I think you gotta go to recovery menu (reboot your psp, turn it back on but hold the R Button so it can take you to the menu) go to Configurations and press x on the xmb usb device til you hit USB Flash. I think it's that one..

For those who carry the ancient PSP , 3.71 came out 4 days following the 1.50 kernel patch by Dark Alex yesterday. Yes... He was on the m33 team the whole time. Go upgrade now!. As for custom themes, I'm not sure if it'll work in this CFW. The upgrade completely changed it back to normal (which is a good thing since I lost my backup data) So for those who dont care about it, good for you. If you do, then sit back and wait a while.

I heard that with the 1.50 kernel patch for 3.71, they had to remove some of the other features from the PSP, including the remote play option (which I love ) because of a lack of space...is this true? What advantages does the M33 3.71 have over their 3.52 firmware?
Location Free Player was removed. Remote Play still remains in 3.71. As for the goods in this cfw, I haven't the slightest clue. I just upgraded and I see that they are updating everyday with new apps for the recent cfw. Can't remember what they were, sorry =/.

Psp Slim: a functionality to let the charge of battery when connecting a usb cable has been added. This feature is based on Noobz plugin code. By default is not enabled, you can enable it in recovery. Note that the charge of battery may be delayed some seconds since the moment you plug the cable.

After installing this update, program at /PSP/GAME/UPDATE will always be executed on 3.71 kernel, despite configuration.

VSHMenu: vshmenu will not be executed when onscreen keyboard is active, to avoid the lost of the select button function in the keyboard. An option to reset the psp has been added.

VSH plugins are not longer executed anymore in recovery mode, that was the cause of pseudo-bricks.

Two bugs remain: the WLAN network error, and the PSP Slim psx game change of brightness. Dark_AleX notes, “These two bugs are copyright of Sony happens too in OFW.”

1.50 Kernel Addon #2:

When returning from sleep mode, 3.71 ipl was executed causing an inmediate crash. Fixed.
So it's best that you upgrade to this ASAP, bluebomber.

PSP Hacks · Hacks

Scroll down a few until you find 3.71 M33-2 and 1.50 k-mode 2 update thread . It should come with the already created 3.71 m33 firmware. The basic README file should be helpful. Keep in mind that when you upgrade to cfw's in the future, it cannot be in 1.50 kernel mode. Says who? Dark Alex.

For those PSP Slim users, NJ created a few emulators that you couldn't have played before. You can find them in PSP-HACKS and I guess psp-updates ;p.

Nice....

Seriously though, All you gotta do is download all that shit THEN:

- Take CFW 3.71 and set it in PSP>GAME>UPDATE folder where you can just upgrade from there.

- After that, Reboot your psp by turning off the psp (hold the switch til it goes black) then turn it on but hold the R button so that it takes you to the RECOVERY MENU.

- In Recovery Menu, go to Configurations and press X on GAME FOLDER HOMEBREW so that it switches from 1.50 kernel to 3.71.

- Go and Exit out of the Recovery Menu.

- NOW you have to get the other files that you downloaded (I hope) from PSP hacks and get the 3.71 M33-2 Update and put it in PSP>GAME>UPDATE folder. If you see one, Just delete that folder cause it doesn't concern you anymore. You already updated to 3.71.

- NOW (heh i sound like Cosby) go back to the regular PSP menu and head to your XMB (memory stick) and start up that little m33-2 update so it can fix a few bugs ,etc.

- Finally, get the 1.50 kernel-2 UPDATE folder and replace it with the other UPDATE folder since , once again, you dont need it anymore. REMINDER : You need to download the original 1.50 FW and rename it to 150.PBP and put it in that 1.50 k-2 folder . You're not done yet. You will also copy that file to the ROOT of your PSP Mem-Stick. ROOT being the folder that pops up your screen where it has the folders of PSP and whatever it is you have there.

That is all...>.<

The only thing I've noticed is the psp reboots when you pause or go to the main menu on a homebrew emulator (ONLY when you turn off the psp).

I'm sure Dark Alex will release another fix.

I have question for the PSPhatcats.

I recently got my PSP back from a friend of mine and as such it's still running 3.03 OE-B.

FFT requires 3.51 at least, so my question is: is 3.71m33 worth it? I see some talk about trouble with it, so would it be less of a hassle for me to just upgrade to some previous (stable, working) custom firmware instead? Which one would that be then?

I just don't want to upgrade to find something that used to work on my PSP now magically won't.
Not just m33 team but Dark Alex created 3.71 m33-2 with 1.50 kernel-2 patch. In short, FFT works in that version. I have no problems with it. No bricks, etc. Not unless you're playing cps2-mvs emulators. Unfortunately it resets itself when you turn it off during gameplay.

EDIT : NVM. Had to disable the Advanced Configurations..

As for the slim's i heard it was longer than the original.

Whatever you do, go and upgrade to 3.52-m33-4 CFW. 3.71 has some major issues and it aint complete. Most of us still use 3.40 OE or lower.

I had to downgrade because I wasn't able to play a few homebrew emulators correctly. 3.52 is great for everything including if you plan to play neo geo roms on a mvs emu. Unfortunate for 3.71 , I can't play my rage of the dragons so I had to downgrade.

If you want to go up to 3.52, Just go through page 40-whatever and find my post that gives you a simple ass instruction =]

EDIT : As for you're firmware.. I thought if you had 2.82, You can use GTA:LCS (not the greatest hits). If you have that, use it.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Well, you obviously know the solution. Stop living in the past >=(
I thought m33 came out after 3.40... Unless he meant 3.71, you can still change the button confirm/cancel button through recovery.

Btw, is anyone still running their phat psp on 3.71?
