I think a possible problem with identity is what you would put as your primary identity. For some, it is their nation, others it might race or religion, or even some other arbitrary category. Therefore, conflicts will arise when people clash over which identity they assume to be primary. There is a distinction between someone who identifies as Muslim and someone who proclaims they are a citizen of a nation and "happens to be Muslim". Jam it back in, in the dark. |
