[PS3] PlayStation 3 Discussion Thread

I'm not sure if the big update they talk about is this week. There's some rumor that it should be today because every Thursday they update the PSN, but here was no confirmation that we'll get that big update before the European launch...

I'm pretty sure they will give use the big update the 22 to go with the launch...

I have a question, does online play for games like Resistance and motorstorm will be worldwide? like will the NA be able to play with people from Europe?

the last time I check it was still Square-Enix that was making final fantasy not sony and still I don,t know why Sony would suggest a developers to think about multi-platforming a game and not to say a big name like final fantasy...

an I was talking about that with a friend. I can see Capcom doing that because they already did it with Resident evil. Almost every console after the snes got at least one Resident evil... and I pretty sure that seeing Devil May Cry becoming one of their biggest series decided to go for multi-platform to make even more cash.

but Square-Enix seem a little different. they don't seem to go for one game on multiple console (port I kind of exception here I think) but they still don't refuse to work on the other system. What I want to say is I think they will keep the number series on the ps3 but maybe make other Final Fantasy or original title for the other console.

not to say that they tends to go, for they big titles, on the console that sell the most in japan. Currently it was the DS that they choose for the next dragon quest... and we all know that the xbox in japan is very far to be in good position. So I guess we can ride off a potential exclusivity but multi-platform, I don't know...at least we can be sure that if they do it, it will surely boost the xbox360 sell in japan...

but if they really decide to make Final Fantasy XIII multi-platform... I don't know, I think that even if I'll still love my ps3, I might loose faith that Sony will overcome all the bad-mouthing there is at the moment...

and Square-Enix put enough time just to make the engine and work and I'm pretty sure will have to wait till end of 2008 maybe 2009 before seeing it here and i really don't want that they take more time to port it on another console...

well after reading that slayerx downloaded the update in 4min and that I look mine and in 15min I was only at 30% I decided to go wired...The cable was just long enough to go from my ps3 to my router XD and so I launch the download... 5min later it's done ; ; I knew it was faster but that much XD

but people that have the 60gb do you kind of feel bad to use wired connection when one of the "special feature" of the 60gb was the wireless connection? XD

like I said either one I'll still get the game, what is worst is when one exclusive become the exclusive of another console... but that will surely surprise me if Square-Enix decide to go multi-platform for FFXIII, but I can already saw the publicity: Final Fantasy XIII the first multi-platform final fantasy! or something like that XD

hmm yeah my friends in Europe are pretty pissed by the fact that Sony think 1$us=1euro which is not the case...

I'm not sure if this midnight sell failure will be bad for Sony. let,s see how the ps3 will sell over the next week...

one thing I heard is that the European playstation store opened today and people from NA created some european account and manage to get the free casino royale blu-ray that came with the ps3 (the movie is still not realease there). There's 500 000 copy of this movie for about 1million ps3 in europe and only the first 500000 will get it. So I feel bad for some people that may not get it because of that... What I don't understand is the movie will probably be in the B region code, so unplayable on japanese and us ps3 >.>

on another note, I saw some people playing oblivion, can you guys tell me how it is on the ps3? I try it a little on PC but I don't know it seem more appealing to have it on a console and the ps3 version seem pretty good but I'm not sure if I should get it...

we all know that FFXII is for ps3, what we are saying now is there's some discussion that FFXIII might go multi-platform, so it might be release on the 3600 too...

oh and great for the oblivion download. I think I'll pass by the Ebgames next week ^^

motorstorm is good but the lack of content just make it more like a demo than a full game. there,s only 8 track (but all 8 are good) and only 2 mode, which is solo offline play and online play, so no offline multiplayer...

but graphically the game is amazing, very beautiful.

I guess it's the lack of content in the game that make people a little disappointed in the game, but I heard they are working on some new mode and new track or something that they will release on the playstation store... so wait and see

I'm still not sure if I want oblivion, I tried it only a little on pc and it was ok, I remember that I find the game pretty hard for me... maybe I was only not use to it. But I don't know for some reason the game seem more appealing on the ps3 to me than it was on the PC. but I,m kind of broke lately and there's a lot of thing that I want to buy >.< so I have to choose XD

oh btw anyone tried MK2 on the ps3? how does it look? XD and how's the online play?

when you purchase something in the psn store, the icon of the items you buy disapear from your psn store, this is probably to prevent mistake, in case someone buy twice the same item.

if you need to download the item again, click on the download list and you'll have the list of all item in the psn store.

MKII has been enhance for the HD but I,m not sure if it's 720p or full HD1080p...

new firmware update for both ps3 and psp ^^ the ps3 firmware update now give the possibility to play the downloaded psone game on the ps3. We still need to wait for the 26 april before the downloaded psone games become compatible, but after that it will even be possible to transfer save from the ps3 to psp.

The games from the psn store might offer other games than playstation games. I wonder which games will it be.

They announce too that there will be more updates and more often. they said like about 10 update per month for Japan.

it's not much but now if they can give us more psone games and more good psone games, I think I might buy one or too ^^

(oh and I just notice that now they show before the installation, what the update do like on the psp ^^)

I heard september for heavenly sword. Ps3 games are kind of dead this summer... nothing seem to come up till fall...

I didn't heard anything on it since it's initial reveal :\ I think the us release might have delayed a little white knight story, since they added a new dungeon and all.

I think will have to wait the E3, maybe they'll show more of it.

I heard that all those save issues where coming from third party memory cards. I have always buy sony memory cards and never had any problems with them so I can't say more...

as for the ps3, I heard that people got all they virtual ps2 memory cards erased for no reason, but I never had this problem and I have 3 virtual memory cards in my ps3...

anyway it seem that the ps3 will be pretty busy in fall but not so much this summer >.<

what I want to know now is: Will the upscaling of ps1 and ps2 game work only on the PAL ps3 or on all ps3? (since PAL ps3 use software emulation instead of hardware)

G.A.P. is Gamer Advisory Panel, which is like a "VIP" group of play underground members that have access to more and exclusives content. When you log in on the playstation website you should see the GAP icon under your name, click on it and you'll be in the gap section.
