I believe you're thinking of the beta as a free trial or demo version of the game, ROT. The nature of online games is that they often patch the game on day 1 since tweaking continues past the manufacturing date for the game discs.

I think, due to the length of the test, its content, and the fact that it was a free download, that the open beta for 360 was a stress test for the servers. The fact that it was laggy is natural for those, since they try to cram as many people as possible into the game and see if it flinches. If it does, they make alterations to the servers before the game launches. Additionally, any client bugs are worked out and put up onto the patch servers for day one and beyond.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I'm pretty much assured to get my copy on Wednesday, since I have it on order from EB Games with overnight shipping. The kicker will be patiently waiting until then if some store does happen to get copies in tomorrow...

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

This is likely so people can play both PS2 and PC versions with the same account, which I know a few of my friends plan to do.

And, billing is started. Now to just get the game and install/patch!

1 - Hold Tab while you press enter on the text entry. Also, if you hold Shift, you'll shout. Hold Ctrl and you'll do a thought bubble. Shift and Ctrl can be combined with Tab as well.
2 - Press Ctrl until character names appear above heads. Look for the names with coloured party symbols next to them, they're your partymates.
3 - You buy discs at weapon shops, use the item to learn the photon, and then attach it to your weapon.
4 - Simple mail is how you "/tell" someone.
5 - I'd go for new weapons and photon arts. Be a pack rat when it comes to materials and synth boards, since those essentially equal free (and often better) items once you can make things.
6 - No idea... I want to know also. You can feed him any item, but I haven't been willing to offer up my goods yet.
7 - It's a special kind of weapon, you're not actually wielding two sabers. The only weapons that can be dual-wielded in the sense of using two physical weapons are left-handed (1h guns) + right-handed (1h melee).

Once more people get the game up and running, we should organize a time/place to all get together and exchange cards. It'd make things a whole lot easier, since knowing someone's name really has no benefit other than shouting out "HEY!" if you happen to see them run by.

Tiiiiny res

Well, a friend of mine was frequenting Universe 18 last night, but I didn't get to meet up with him. Currently, 1 is the most populated, and the rest feel rather barren. I'm sure that'll change once more people can actually log in and play.

I've mainly been chilling in 1 since it's the most populated, and I've been doing a fair bit of pickup groups. I'll likely settle down somewhere else though once the majority of my friends get the game running and once populations settle.

Taegueki, the fee is $9.99 for 30 days, or $49.99 for 180.

As a random note... I really wish the PC version was a port of the 360 version, and not the PS2 ver... I would kill to have widescreen and higher res support. That, and a fullscreen that doesn't crash when you alt-tab. Grumble. But all in all, extremely entertaining so far

Tried to take on De Ragan with 5 people, all around level 8-9. Wiped horribly. Massive deathticle, that dragon is. I'm glad though, if it was easy I would have been disappointed

Had one hell of an awesome time with some old PSO/FFXI friends tonight We were mainly playing in 18, but other folks we know were on 13...

Got raped by Da Ragan, but we beat up some RELICs and Neudaiz missions which was a blast. Up to around level 11 or so, though our force is 14 Punk.

I'm a beast... but I'm kinda considering switching to Ranger. I dunno. There's way too many Hunters around, at least in my group of friends.

You can use @ commands to prefix your chat with the desired cut-in chat face/angle depending on what number you use.

@##, where the 1st number is the expression type, and the 2nd number is the camera angle. (4 or 5 total I believe)

I forget exactly which numbers are which expressions, but it goes in order of scrolling through them manually.

For example, if I wanted to say "OH SNAP!" with a surprised face and a diagonal angle, I'd type "@33 OH SNAP!" or put that text as my macro.

I wasted a bunch of meseta too I switched to Ranger, since I want to get that up to 3 first before pursuing Hunter to 5 for Fighgunner. And I tried out shotguns, but the damage was just extremely pitiful. Like around 20 per enemy (if it hit, gogo beast), when everyone else was popping off 50-60 while being 3 levels lower than me. So instead, I have two varieties of dual-handguns now, one with longevity and one with XTREME POWAR... that runs out real fast. And an awesome saber for when I feel like meleeing it up.

Mainly what I'll be looking forward to is being able to use dual-handguns and fists in tandem (or, well, whichever I feel like)

You have to be a Force to use TECHNICs and Staves... If you're a Hunter or Ranger, you can't use them at all. Has nothing to do with race.

I suggest the Neudaiz weapons. They do a bit less damage than other ones, but they have a ton more available PP. They tend to look cooler too Basically it's them for PP, Moatoob for power and not as much PP, and Parum is somewhere in between.

Btw, I'm heading out of town until Wednesday evening, so I won't be on till then.

Been recently working on updating my wardrobe in the game, but I'm not quite done yet... because none of the shirts are really to my liking. I'm hoping there's some cool stuff on Moatoob!

Basically you go to Microsoft's website and download the 360 controller drivers, install them, plug in the controller, and you're all set. Worked great for me, I just had to remap the camera from the shoulder buttons onto the right stick and invert it in the ingame settings.

When I'm playing Ranger, I just sweep the crowd with dual handguns since you can fire & strafe at the same time. Get a hit in on everyone, then start focusing your damage and status effects. It's not as visceral as mowing through a mob with Barta or unleashing photon arts, but it still lends a useful role to groups and does help out.
