IGN just put up 5 new movies from FFXII in their media page. For whatever reason it isn't part of their frontpage news lineup yet.
Two of the movies are the CG+Ingame Intro, with really good quality on the music. Unfortunately, it cuts off right at the title screen. However, I managed to rip the audio and put together an MP3 of what there is. The other movies are: - Montage of Vaan exploring the beginning city, glimpses at ingame cutscenes - Ingame cutscenes from the beginning + running around and fighting - Another ingame scene + part of a boss battle Awesome stuff ![]() Jam it back in, in the dark. |
I hear you Piccolo. I had some fears, but these tracks are totally making my day
![]() What I'm really loving about these pieces is how varied and expressive they are. They're not just one little motif repeated over and over. He really goes places and makes you want to hear what happens again. It's stuff like this that leads me to listening to it over and over and over again. There's nowhere I can't reach. |
It also makes absolutely no sense. Unless someone can explain what knacking is, and what it has to do with mist to involve flashy special moves
![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Panelo pretty much sounds just like Rikku from that one line she said.
Overall I'm extremely pleased with the voices. The various dialects should lend themselves well to Alex Smith's translation. Of course, we have whiny hero treatment #whatever, but even the Japanese didn't like their version of the character's voice too much. Most amazing jew boots |
My copy shipped from amazon.co.jp this morning and should be here on Wednesday or Thursday
I love their shipping. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
Dare I sense a lack of sarcasmic comprehension?

And, by the way, FFXI was designed around the PS2. The PC version was a port that eventually became the prefered platform due to a much greater performance. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Well tehnically the 31st is the ship date. So all stores would have it in on the 1st anyways

Good 'ole Alex O. Smith, at it again with the crazy coolness
Erm, I have nothing else to add to this post. I'm looking forward to the localization. Carry on. Most amazing jew boots |
Well considering that PSM mails me their magazines despite the fact that I've never signed up for it, I'll know first-hand once they send them out...

A bit of an amusing story involving the game...
I was wandering around in the mall the other day, and walked into the resident Gamestop there. After looking around for a little bit, I heard something familiar coming from the demo station. The titlescreen movie loop to Final Fantasy XII was playing on the PS2 station. So I walked over and got a closer look. Sure enough, it seems that the station had replaced the PS2 with a Japanese system with the JP copy of FFXII playing. So I picked up the controller and started the game. I skipped past all the intro cutscenes since I wanted to save them for when I got the game, but started up in the tutorial/intro sequence. Everything seemed pretty straightforward, as characters introduced you to walking around, moving the camera, interacting with the world, and basic fighting. In any case... I played around for something like 15 minutes, before a rather tall figure was standing next to me. "Hey man, how's it going?" Not recognizing that he was an employee, or knowing who it was really, I responded "Pretty good." "Yeah, um, I'm going to have to cut you off... It seems we left the controller attached. We were just going to have the title movie looping for people to see. Can't have anyone playing it, since it isn't out yet." Busted. So, cooperatingly, I put down the controller and let him take care of setting it back up again. Though we did have a nice conversation about the game. He was skeptical about it, since he was reading about people in Japan that pretty much used the Gambit system to program the party to completely automate itself against any encounter in the game. Sounds somewhat bogus to me, since other folks have also said that the boss fights are pretty challenging and keep you on your toes even with heavy Gambiting. Anyways, random story from my weekend. Carry on ![]() I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Personally I'm wondering why Vaan's crotch is glowing.
In all seriousness, I think it's pretty solid. I love how the airships are there radiating out from the group of main character renders. Color composition is nice too. I was speaking idiomatically. |
EB and Gamestop are the same thing now. They just kept the store names to prevent confusion and changing logos etc.

Fair enough
I wouldn't know.Slightly back on topic... I'm kind of wondering what exactly is going on between now and the end of October... Especially considering that there's already a review of the english version and the localization seems pretty solid. Squashing englishy bugs? Not sure. FELIPE NO |
Any reply to the PA comments from people that've played the import? Kind of curious myself.

The PSM issue's been out for a while now. No idea how they got it that far head of time though. They pretty much go in-depth with every fragment of the gameplay possible. And with the english version apparently? Kind of odd considering we still have over a month to go until it's released ;(

Or maybe the reviewer just had some nitpicks with it. I mean, we all have personal opinions on stuff. 8.5 is still a high score, and I can imagine why someone might be put off by some things in the game depending on their tastes. The point of EGM's 3-pronged rating system is to get a good survey of opinions, so the fact that it also got a 9 and a 9.5 means it's still fine.
And yeah, I know Famitsu's rating system is 4-pronged, but that's four people out of a lot. And EGM's 3 more people out of a lot. No use getting worked up over it. Personally, I'd look at the words, not numbers. How ya doing, buddy? |
Wow... that was awesome. The poster mentioned something about TiVo. Was this broadcasted on TV sometime? It'd be awesome to get a better sync of it.
But in any case, won't matter... because... 30 days! ![]() This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Oh ffs, this is just ridiculous. Enjoy yourselves, I'll be waiting for my hard copy

I certainly can
Plenty of other amusing games keeping me occupied until then. Enjoy, though, to those that took the chance.I was speaking idiomatically. |

I'm not sure, really. I keep hearing various rumors from all over about it. That it comes with a 100+ page art book, that both strategy guide and artbook are bundled in a leather cover or something. I hope they release info about it some time before it makes its visable way into stores. I usually don't buy strategy guides... but if it does come with a sizable artbook, consider me very sold. Unless a bigger one is put on sale in Japan or somesuch. FELIPE NO |

Well, admittedly, the game part of FFX-2 was really solid. I just disliked the content, characters, and storyline so much that I didn't bother playing it through all the way.
The Play review of FFXII is pretty suspect to fangirlism though. The entire review was pretty much spent gushing about how much she loved it and didn't want to beat it because that would mean it was over. Sounded more like a forum post than a professional mag's review. Still love the mag though, they get great content. Jam it back in, in the dark. |
