The spread in Nintendo Power about it got me really excited. I can't wait for real Tetris opponents that can't whine that they suck and go crying off, leaving me to only get better in a story mode or some shit.
I love the original Tetris, next would be New Tetris followed by Next Tetris, but the series has lacked innovation since then. Tetris Worlds was just a horrendous packaging of all the previous incarnations.
I'm gonna eat this game up!
*runs to preorder!*

Jam it back in, in the dark.

All of the ads say this game comes out tomorrow, but I know damn well they don't unload the truck or get the new merch shipments in until Tuesday. Why the tease . . .

There's nowhere I can't reach.

BTW, I like how Nintendo stated in the booklet on not to give out any personal info while playing online when there's no way to communicate whatsoever.

Anyway, here's my friend code:

That is funny.
My friend code is in my sig, and I'll be on tomorrow sometime.
I also did a rip for the game (the first rip to be released on the same day the game was released!): Tetris Rip Thread

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

Fix't. I was unable to connect yesterday due to business.

Then when you get to higher levels, it becomes impossibly fast, and I had to resort to the infinite rotation trick just to survive, and even then, I still had major trouble. Am I the only one who thinks so?
I beat it the first time I played it. The key is the 'landed piece rotation trick', where you can virtually keep flipping a piece until YOU tell it to be placed. Then you have a split second to look. I was surprised it got so fast so quick, but it isn't so hard.

Many more tense gaming nights are coming for me based on this mode! INTENSE!

I really liked it. it's a nice cool down mode after playing exhaustive rounds of Push. Very calming.

Well I'm glad I learned something new.
I agree. Very innovative, but I was expecting it to get more exciting. Driving the gather block is also a bit cumbersome.

I know what you mean! This was an ingenious mode though. There are a lot tought missions as you go along. Love that it's set in Hyrule too. How fitting!

I like that it's built around Yoshi's Cookie. When I first played it, I was like, "Oh man, they remade YC and they made the blocks microscopic! How am I ever going to distinguish these colors!" Then I noticed the blocks at the bottom. Whew!

Does nobody wish to play with me?
I have a Tetris game (and often more than one) for every console I own. It's always been a staple purchase fo me, but I watch TDS closely because I was somewhat disappointed by Tetris Worlds. The music was sub-par, the multiplayer was too small, and I didn't like the premsie. TDS is a return to the Tetris greatness I've been craving!

Oh yeah, and I'll play wit' ya! I put your code in. I may be online later . . . We'll see.

I was playing online the other night and was surprised and sickened that people had already reached 160 wins with the game not even being out a week.
I played for like 3 hours and got 25 4-player wins, 10 2-player wins, and 10 Push mode wins.
One guy I played had 160 2-player wins. The funny part was that his score (which starts at 5000 for those that aren't on yet) was only at 6233. For each win, you get points based on the skill level of the players you beat. He must have lost a ton of Push Modes (which seem to deplete your score faster if you lose) or something to have such a disproportionate win to score ratio. This also means that he has WAY more than 160 games under his belt.
With only three ways to play, wouldn't you just burn yourself out on the wifi after playing that long?
Anyway, I guess what it boils down to is I think the guy's nuts and though I'd like his win record, I'd only want it after about a month or so of playing!

I also beat a guy named Be Afraid that had a very high score and win total during one of my first matches in 4-player mode. I felt pretty good.
Finally all of that New Tetris playing is paying off!

What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

Yeah, I thought Chu Chu Rocket was hard. I'm not much of a puzzle fan. But is tetris, and everyone knows how to play tetris. I have the PS1 version of Tetris Plus and it was quite nice. If it's anything like Plus I'll be pleased indefinitely.
It's a challenge, but in no way is it too difficult. Besides, if a certain mode bugs you and gets you frustrated then switch over to a more relaxing mode like Touch or Puzzle.
Hardest part of the game IMO: Level 5 Push vs CPU. Yikes, the CPU is FAST!
Still, it's not like you HAVE to beat it. There isn't really any crazy unlockables or bonuses. Just the 200 lines in standard (beating level 20) unlocks endless mode and a sound test (which I found pointless now that I ripped the game).
Consequently, I got up to level 56 in endless, and don't plan to try again. Once you reach your favorite number what would your next goal be? It gets pretty repetitive after a while anyway. It really can't get much faster.
I beat most of puzzle mode with no real benefit as well, except that it was fun.
The game is a nice break for me. I don't feel like I have to complete everything to prove that I'm good. I just let multiplayer tell that story . . .

I guess it's virtually impossible to play Tetris DS without that trick, heh.
It gets awfully fast too quickly IMO. They're a blur arounf Level 15, so there's no real change between 15 and . . . x. So, after that, it's all practice (which I have via playing multiple iterations of Tetris) and control.
Watch your hold piece, make sure you know what you have because in a pinch you'll need to keep flipping a piece to see where you are, and swap out pieces if necessary.
Try to stay clean and low when things get fast. Don't worry about points or large line clears.

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

Tetris Worlds was a disappointment to me. Tetris DS has modes I will play forever.
Also, for all of those saying they play MP:H or KH2 more than this, this game is MUCH more condusive to pick-up-and-play than the others. You've got to have some time set aside for MP:H and KH2, whereas you can be in and done with Tetris in under 5 minutes.
It's like gaming porn! KH2 and MP:H need a lot of foreplay, but Tetris you're in and out!

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Well, I'm getting my money's worth out of it. It's different for everyone.
