You may need to simply produce a custom cursor to circumvent the issue.

Okay, so you have the 'arrow' cursor, and when you roll over a movie clip with functions (or buttons), then you get the index finger point cursor?
Is that the issue. Normally you don't want to get rid of that functionality because it's nice feedback to know what pieces are actually buttons most of the time. Still, Flash is nearly fully customizeable. The other thing I'd suggest is looking at Actionscript libraries (there's tons of books) to see if there is a solution. For the most part hunting the net is fairly useless, in my experience. Hope that helps. I've exhausted my resources. I'm currently revamping my portfolio, so I'll have it up for comments soon.
