While I hate to see the Ice Climbers go, I am glad that Sakurai chose to replace them with another classic character in the form of Pit. Considering the popular reaction when it was originally announced, and the nostalgia factor for Kid Icarus among Japanese and American fans I think that it was a very good move. Better to replace one classic character (counting the Climbers as one) with another rather than replacing them with a modern day character I say. I would LOVE to seea modern day revival of Pit should this go over well.

i've been saying for a while now that the N64 Young Link would be replaced by the Wind Waker Young Link. That transition just seems like a no-brainer to me considering Old Link will be the TP version.

With Metaknight already here and several Nintendo slots still left open I'm figuring that King Dedede may actually make the final roster after all which would be hella sweet. A heavier version of Kirby with a giant mallet but with a more handicapped float due to his weight would rock.

While I am not hot on Bowser Jr, a lightweight version of Bowser does sound intriguing. I just wish that the original Koopa Kids would get more love.

I wont really miss Mr. Game and Watch much but I'm sure that considering we'll get a couple of 3rd party characters as a substitute is a good alternative.

Lastly - concerning the third party charcters: Am I the only one who thinks Rockman/Megaman is practically a shoe-in for this? His character is perfect for a game like this. A) The megaman series already has a huge back catalogue on Nintendo B) The whole 'weapon adaptation/color change" system for his Mega Buster is just like Kirby sucking up a character and getting thier power C) Capcom has practically been in bed with Nintendo for several years now even developing several of the handheld Zelda's. D) Sakurai has already mentioned him on the consideration list. I just can't forsee one of those empty slots *not* going to him.

Glad to see Young Link's conversion, sad to see Ice Climbers go, but I can understand it. I liked to use them sometimes to surprise some people and then beat their ass. Ridley will also rock, despite people saying he's too big.
Still, I thought Pichu would have been one of the first to be axed, leading me to be skeptical about the report.
As for Bowser Jr., he's just not my favorite and I think there are better options. Plus, I hadn't seen him on any other lists that are being treanslated, so it's a bit of a surprise.
I'm also sad to see G&W go, if it's all true. Didn't use him much, but he was fun.

I totally agree with Dubble on Deedeedee. I've wanted him in since the beginning, as his moves in the game make perfect sense, and he has enough different ones to be separate from Kirby, yet still "like" him.
Also, Mega Man is a crapshoot. Capcom chose to go with PSP for their recent remakes of Mega Man 1 and MMX. In fact, good Mega Man games have been pretty sparse. MMX7 and 8 were on PS2, not Gamecube. Even though the back history is there, Capcom seems to be favoring Sony. And his Kirby-esque ability stealer would be hard to translate into the game as such. He only gains abilities when he defeates enemies (unless you count the carton where al he had to do is touch them). Still, it would be cool to see fireballs, boomerangs, lightning, eggs, etc. come out of his Mega Buster.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

Is EVERYONE forgetting that Young Link and Adult Link are in the same game? Or are we just sluffing that off as a time travel/different universe thing? Because YL and Link never saw each other face to face, they BECAME each other via the Ocarina of Time.
Through this, we can have Baby Mario, Baby Bowser (which I'd prefer over Junior), any manifestation of DK we want, and any other time-barrier-universe-exploding character.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

For WW YL there are many more weapons that could be used to distinguish him more from Adult Link, as they are trying to give each character their own personalized move sets.

Deku Leaf: Can do an Air Gust attack, and can float with it.
Grappling Hook: The Grappling Hook is different from the OoT Hookshot in that rope is attached instead of a chain. Not a big deal, but might translate into different moves.
Mirror Shield: Has appeared in many Link games, including WW, and becomes more useful each time. Should get an appearance in SSBB.
Skull Hammer: Used like other Hammers in LoZ games, but this one is wicked powerful.
Tingle Tuner: Though I'm not a big fan of Tingle, how cool would it be to direct him into battle and drop bombs on foes? Might be a bit difficult to make that work, but still worth a look.
Wind Waker: He could conceivably control some wind and create a mini-tornado attack or something.

I was speaking idiomatically.

It did seem too
1) early for such announcements
2) out of place for such announcements (like not on the dojo site)
3) odd of announcements to announce.

Three strikes your out.

But I still like my WW YL post. Heh.

LoZTP is actually going to use a mix of cel shades and realistic textures. SSBB can use this aw well to have both cel shaded characters and realistic ones.

I guess that means the "update" mentioned earlier about the Ice Climbers, WW Link etc. is indeed bullshit or he'd have posted it on his site. Cutting characters is certainly newsworthy!
Maybe he just doesn't trust staff to not give away every detail. Wouldn't it be hard to work on the game and not spill your beans? It's the single most interesting project out there these days!

Does anyone have Dreammix TV World Fighters? It was a Japanese game similar to Smash Bros., and Snake was playable.
Here's the official site:
http://www.hudson.co.jp/gamenavi/gam...ight/main.html

Here is Snake's character page:
http://www.hudson.co.jp/gamenavi/gam...hara/snak.html

Evidently he has to be unlocked.

Here's a video of how he plays:

A while back they had planned to release some Metroid Zero Mission gashapon toys, but everywhere I preordered them from cancelled the order and told me they never existed, and the project was never created.

Then I see this:

So naturally I'm curious. Is this a newly made Samus because of her new appearance in SSB Brawl, or was this always going to be?

Interesting . . .

I agree with above, but I'd also want them to include all of the trophies for both Japan and USA, as two trophies (Samus w/o helmet and Mario & Yoshi) weren't available here and could only be grabbed from stations set up in game stores in Japan.
Why didn't they make them unlockable here?
Anyway, I'm big on collectables whether in game or out. Perhaps you've seen my site?

Quit threatening people Acer. Sheesh. Nobody likes ruling through fear.

EWJ appeared in Clayfighter 63 1/3 an Scupltor's Cut, so why not Melee?
Still, Acer makes a good point about his lack of showing. EWJ3D was awful and his appearance is CF631/3 was pretty atrocious too.
He's one of my favorite game characters, but I just don't see it happening. Poor guy. I wish someone would do a decent game for him, but he's just been passed from developer to developer and put out to pasture with a series of awful showings.

PsychJosh:
Hey guys, let's make SSBB like SSF2 alpha crazy hyper special edition!

Everyone else:
Die.

There are two reasons that SSBM is currently my favorite game.
1. All Nintendo characters in one game
2. It ISN'T just another fighting game. It created its own drum and now marches to the beat of it. That's how innovative it is.

I'm all for more moves and more powerful ones, but add crappy beaten-to-death ideas that made me leave the traditional fighting genre and I'll have to find something new to occupy my time, like drugs.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

I hope eveything in the game is customizeable this time. It came close is SSBM, but I REALLY want to see a toggle where you can switch off stage deaths. That is deaths resulting in stage obstacles like Kraid or F-Zero Racers, etc. It's frustrating sometimes to try and have a clean battle and your only real option is the Final Battle stage.

Also, very few people play stages like Icicle Mountain or Rainbow Cruise because there is less actual fighting and more platforming and opportunism.

I don't know about you guys but I think it's an interesting idea.
This sounds a lot like the Venom level that's already in the game. Still, I'd love to see Nester as a playable character. He'd be a nice surprise.

I love this idea!
There should be ways to access new areas in all of the levels. Like keys for Link, Pipes that actuall go to new areas for Mario, Warps for Samus, etc.
It would simply be attaining a key and then running to the lock. No extra gameplay should really be added because of it becoming too complicated. Just simple unlocks within levels.

Great idea though.

Double Post:
As for floatiness, I kind of like that from the first one, but it's too easy to get cheap with it. I guess I prefer real gravity. Gives the game a more harsh feel.
Gravity is a harsh mistress . . .
