Hey, mom, watch this. Deep breath.
3 Points - Stage 4 (Corrosion)
First and foremost, I have the utmost respect for however anyone votes. I was contemplating just doing this competition by nominating and possibly not voting. But that would be what we call "retarded." Anyway, I agree the structure of melody as far as Corrosion goes is all over the place, but I feel the eventual insanity is what ties into the title. I would argue that there is structure... I'd just find myself in a critical argument with melody vs. beat. I really love this track, that last minute just really seals it for me when the strings kick in.
There's no such thing as a "Defense" for a track, or anything for that matter, that starts out with "You just don't get it." But what I seem to hear that others haven't commented on is the percussion. Percussion is what most of the great tracks from the R-Type Delta OST are built around. I believe I might try nominating Stage 6 for something that has a bit more "consistency."
Still, "raver diarrhea" or not, I do recognize I had my ear on something that would be classified as personal interpretation of a track. So, no, everyone "gets" the music just fine. I just want to say that I love the percussion and the way most tracks from this OST tie into that. And again, that last minute is beautiful.
2 points - Ramirez At Bay - Not as long winded here, I just have to say that I have a weakness for Richard Jaques. I'm looking to find his work on the European version of Super Shinobi. Europe definitely didn't suffer musically from that reworking and this track is kind of indicative as to why this man is talented.
1 point - Ark - This is the only "soft spot" vote I'm actually handing out. I have a fondness for this track that is built around "Hey, I played that game guys." I is a sellout.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
