My team, Auburn, is ranked 4 and 6, which is nice and all. A lot of people around here, Alabama and Auburn fans alike, are speculating that they will be playing in the National Championship game this year. Unfortunately I think these people are going to be disappointed. I expect that this is going to be a fun season once it gets started, and once players stop getting forcibly removed from teams due to various violations. Totally looking forward to it.
Jam it back in, in the dark. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

GT took out Auburn in the opener last season; I wouldn't mind seeing them upset ND today. It's looking possible right now, with 10 minutes left in the game, ND up 14-10 and GT having the ball right now. Last year I got tired of hearing this announcer saying Reggie Ball this and Reggie Ball that. I think tonight I want to hear his name called a few more times.
If Tech can pull out the upset, and Auburn can beat Mississippi State next week {lol}, then Auburn would be ranked number 2 after next week's games, since Ohio State and Texas, both ranked ahead of Auburn, are playing each other. Auburn looked pretty decent today, though slightly inconsistent. They settled for 4 straight field goals to open, then finally put one into the end zone and basically rolled. Double Post: Well it's basically over now. ND just has to kneel a time or two and head home. There's nowhere I can't reach. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

While I am basically ambivalent towards Tennessee, and all of the other SEC teams besides Auburn, I absolutely love seeing SEC teams beat up on non-SEC teams, especially when it is a higher ranked non-SEC team. Sorry Cal, but you can't compete with the SEC powerhouses like the Tennessees, Floridas, Auburns, Georgias, and LSUs. With Texas and Ohio State playing next weekend, that will open the door for an SEC team to step up and make a run at the national title game.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

Auburn has shut out Mississippi State 34 to nothing, and while Auburn played well, they didn't play like a team that I can expect to contend for the championship this year. On a positive note, however, their kicker hit a 55 yard field goal today.
I expect OSU/Texas to end 42-28 OSU; and I am hoping for a Penn State win over Notre Dame. And yeah, don't hold your breath on Arizona upsetting LSU, it's going to be uglier than the Cal/Tennessee game. Most amazing jew boots I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

If you're watching the Arizona-LSU game you might want to change the channel.

Yeah, I was watching the BC game and talk about a clutch extra point block there, man that was awesome. I didn't get to see the Iowa game though. OSU-Texas time now. Also noticing that Troy State is leading Florida State in the third, and Air Force is tied with Tennessee at 10 in the second.
How ya doing, buddy? I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

Good lord what an ending to the Auburn-LSU game. 7-3 Auburn victory, LSU gets the ball inside their own 20 with 1:18 left and they take it all the way down to the Auburn 3 as it ends. Number 3 Auburn defeats number 6 LSU. I don't really see how USC is supposed to hurdle Auburn, what with them playing a 19th ranked Nebraska.

Well the receiver got hit at about the same time as the ball was tipped AND the ball was tipped well ahead of where the receiver was, so it wasn't really that horrible a call. I think the logic of their decision on that play is that they are treating the deflection the same as a ball that is tipped at the line of scrimmage. Yeah, it sucks that a questionable call had to happen on such an important play, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Also I am watching the Tennessee-Florida game and on two consecutive plays touchdowns were called back on penalties. First Florida has an 89 yard punt return called back on a tough block in the back call, and then Tennessee has an interception return called back on a tough roughing the passer call. Wow. Most amazing jew boots I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

Not a lot of big matchups this week, but a couple of interesting games going. Georgia survived a scare against Colorado, scoring 14 in the fourth quarter after pulling the freshman starting quarterback Stafford. Penn State was keeping it close with Ohio State until throwing a pair of late interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. Auburn, playing lowly Buffalo, didn't play several of their better players and squeaked out the 38-7 win. And the end of the Alabama-Arkansas game was just amazing, in a pathetic sort of way. Choose your criticism on this one. Tie game in the fourth quarter and Alabama driving the ball down the field but once they get inside Arkansas' 30, they play it ultra-conservative, playing for the field goal instead of the touchdown. The get as close as a 1st and goal at the 10, but end up with a 14 play, 9 minute drive that ends with a missed field goal. Fast forward to overtime and after Arkansas throws an interception on the opening possession of the OT, Alabama plays it ultra-conservative AGAIN and plays for the field goal, which in this situation is not necessarily a bad idea, since a field goal would win the game. Well, surprise surprise, their kicker misses his 3rd field goal of the game, wide right each time. Time to go to the second overtime. Finally Alabama decides to try to put the ball in the end zone, and they are successful. But wait, they have to kick an extra point. The kicker misses the extra point, wide right. This sets up Arkansas to score a touchdown and kick the extra point to come away with the win. Their blue chipper freshman quarterback, Mitch Mustain, looked horrible late in the game. He had the deer in headlights look in his eyes, which is understandable considering this time last year he was a high school quarterback. Well, he actually stepped it up and put it in the end zone. Extra point good, Arkansas wins, Alabama's kicker is crying on the sideline.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame is playing Michigan State and gave up a quick 17 points before finding their way into the end zone. Florida just scored a touchdown at the end of the first half to go up 12-7 on Kentucky, who hasn't looked too bad today. Florida has had two extra points blocked tonight, which is never good. We'll see how it plays out. Jam it back in, in the dark. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

Notre Dame has just scored three touchdowns in like 6 minutes to take the lead. Wow, just wow. Quinn looked a whole lot better the last two drives, and then the defense steps it up and returns a pick for a touchdown for the 3 point lead.

Like when ND comes up with a seriously ridiculous interception with 24 seconds left to end the game.

I didn't expect Auburn to go undefeated this year, I just haven't been nearly as impressed with them as so many other people seemed to have been, but I so didn't expect them to lose to Arkansas. I expected them to be able to rattle the freshman quarterback Mustain, but it really didn't matter since Arkansas ran the ball something like 30 out of their 32 last plays. McFadden, Felix Jones, and the Arkansas offensive line basically dominated the game.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AUBURN BEAT FLORIDA. TIME TO WAVE THE BIG ORANGE AND BLUE AU FLAGS.
Where was this last week against Arkansas? Huge huge win for Auburn, and a huge loss for Florida. And what's up Georgia fans, Vandy stepping up today. I was speaking idiomatically. I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

Being an Auburn fan, I don't really care for Florida too much. HOWEVER, when it comes to choosing between rooting for an SEC team that I don't like and rooting for a non-SEC team in the National Championship game, it is a really easy choice: SEC all the way. Talking about the game this afternoon with a coworker, I mentioned a couple of reasons why I thought Florida had a legitimate shot at winning this game, 1) with all the time between games, the coaching staff would be able to put together a solid game plan to combat OSU, and 2) OSU doesn't get to see defenses with the kind of speed all over the field that Florida features.
This is why SEC football is the best football in the nation. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? I didn't say I wouldn't go fishin' with the man.

Pretty nice how Auburn beat two of the top three teams in the nation this year, including the National Champs, but wilted against Georgia.
