Let's assume evolutionary theory is correct. The odds that life would evolve somewhere else in the universe are pretty sparse to begin with, despite the mind numbing amount of space. For life to evolve somewhere else, and for that life to have any physical similarity to any creature on earth is a completely ridiculous concept. Well, they started from a primordial soup just like everyone else. Who knows, it's possible the evolutionary process might tend towards humanoids.
However, the possibility of such an intelligent civilization evolving within even remotely the same time period as humans though, much less discovering interstellar in time to get here before we're extinct, is much more slim I would say.
