Quick summary of the Hitoshi Sakimoto interview from V-Jump:
  • As with FFT, Sakimoto tried at first to keep to the FF sound, but in the end found he was better off sticking to his own style. Of course he kept the 'Prelude' in there.
  • 120-30 tracks total. More than 10 tracks ended up being arranged.
  • Tried hard to express contrasts in the game via music - eg. contrast between an underground dungeons and flying in the sky.
  • Tried very hard to match the music to Event scenes - he kept adapting the music even as scenes were being changed.
  • Being the focal point of the story, much of the music is also centered around Vaan. However, Sakimoto REALLY likes Penelo and always uses her in battle.

Little spoilery bit from Sakimoto about the use of past FF themes:
Spoiler:
FFV's Battle of Big Bridge theme is used at some point.

Credit to tebiro boy from GAF for the translation and summary..
I'm interested in hearing the "Prelude" again. I actually missed hearing it since the latest Final Fantasy installments didn't include the song. I also wasn't sure what to expect from the soundtrack, but since it's going to have 120-30 tracks, I hope there's a lot of variation in the songs.

Jam it back in, in the dark.

Why does the middle shot look like it's taking place in a space hangar? :/

I think it's just the angle of the camera that made Vaan's hair look like that.

There's nowhere I can't reach.

I haven't scanned this thread until now, but that's an amusing name. I'm curious about what they'll change it to (if they do) in the North American version.

This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it.

The dub seems good even with the quality of that trailer. Vaan's voice was just as I expected and reminded me of Tidus, but I like how Ashe sounded.

Compared to other voice acting in Square games, I can't complain much about the English dub so far. The trailer featured actors that I felt sounded more natural. I admit that Ashe did seem a bit too dramatic during some parts of the trailer, but that's a trivial complaint.

I was speaking idiomatically.

There is already discussion of the FFXII OST in this thread. Feel free to discuss the soundtrack there instead of here.

I've already experienced something like this.

I asked about FFXII a few months ago, and one of the employees at EB Games claimed that the game had been out for years already. I assumed he meant X-2, so I had to explain the difference.

He has no reason to lie about getting the game, so I suppose a local store around here was very nice to him.

EDIT: He just informed me that our local Best Buy sold him the game. Welp, so much for the 31st.
I've yet to experience an early release of a game like this. All the game stores in my area are firm about releasing on the 31st. =/

What, you don't want my bikini-clad body?

If my mp is at 44 and I get the quickening it would become 88.

And after I leveled up and my mp rose, would it still add to the base mp?

Example - If basch has 44 mp and I get the quickening his current mp would be 88.
After leveling up, Basch would recieve 4 mp increase. Would it add on to 44 to make it 48 base mp before it was doubled? and then get doubled or would it only add on to 88?
If I'm confusing, tell me so I can attempt to explain better.
This doesn't need a separate thread. Merging with the existing FFXII thread.

Jam it back in, in the dark.
