Oh wow. IGN has a longer descriptioon of the MGS4 trailer up. It sounds like Snake's chameleon suit activates when he crouches. It bring's back MGS3's camo system, except you no longer have to pause to change camos, you simply crouch! The suit can fool the new Metal Gears, which is good considering Snake is pretty much helpless against them. Awesome gameplay addition. Hiding in plain sight also relates to "no places to hide". The new Metal Gears can smash through walls (meaning the environments are fully destructable), thus there really are no places to hide. Instead you hide in plain sight, therefore there really is no more point in seeking a place to hide!

Well according to HGW's site a little while back, he is signed on to do music for MGS4. I think the music credited to this other person was just the music for the trailer.
As for CQC, well it's sort of always been available. The circle as "punch punch kick" is a more basic form of CQC. The only thing that Solid Snake couldn't do was throw enemies to the ground. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't really need an explanation if CQC returns in 4. Oh man, I hope this trailer is available before I have to go to work tomorrow night. Heads will roll if I don't see this thing! I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() [ MOBIUS ]

ZOMG! Downloading 2 versions now! Taking forever. I don't wanna stream the KP version until the downloads are complete (don't wanna risk having to buffer every 3 seconds). Are all these WMP versions? I hate WMP, are there any Quicktime?
What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
Awesome trailer. Those Gekku's are much smaller than they seem.

Who says the stinger will return? Besides, even if Snake does get a Stinger/RPG, he'll get it near the end of the game. For the most part the Gekkos will be unstopable killing machines that you must run from (besides, one of the game's major themes is psychological warfare, so you can bet that Kojima is going to get our hearts pounding in fear of these things).
There's nowhere I can't reach. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
You only have to spend $550 is you want to own, and far less if you simply rent a PS3.
We never get to see the name on the tombstone. It could be: Greyfox, Big Boss, the Boss (though I doubt it), or Olga's grave. Hell, it could even be Stillman or something. "We are the new Foxhound" wasn't meant literally by Meryl. It was simply a metaphor. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |

Edit: Apparently the new Metal Gears are called "Gekko's" in the United States now, instead of Gekku's (I think that's what they were called). Somebody call Gieko. FELIPE NO ![]() [ MOBIUS ]

That's not necissarily decay, it could just be a wound. Besides, that serum that Naomi provides (seen in the TGS trailer) fixes him right up.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
She was left out of MGS2 because HK wanted to leave the true ending of MGS as ambiguous as possible (until you unlock "In the Darkness of Shadow Moses" by beating the game). Why would she go off and join some other group? Besides, the Patriots want her dead as well for knowing the truth about Shadow Moses just like they want Snake, Otacon, and Campbell dead. She'd be smart to stay with Philanthropy.
Only time will tell. Can you at least admit that it's more likely that she's a part of Philanthropy than not? Let's leave it at that for now. How ya doing, buddy? ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |

The "blood" that spews out of Ray is nanopaste/mechanical fluid. The Gekko's presumably bleed real blood since their legs are organic. Presumably the legs were engineered in a lab somewhere to be specifically used on the Gekkos.
I like how Raiden doesn't even have to kill one of the Gekkos, he simply jumps onto it and spins it's spherical camera eyes around so it gets dizzy and falls over! LOL. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() [ MOBIUS ]

Not yet. Supposedly there's a version out, but I'm skeptical because it's easy to confuse for the hi def 3 min trailer.
Wasn't Kojima supposed to show off actual gameplay by playing the game himself? There should be footage of that if it happens (wait, when does E3 end?) I was speaking idiomatically. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
I saw the MGS4 figure about a month ago. Great stuff. It's the most game-accurate figure yet. I hope that it comes to the U.S. and that it's far less expensive than the $100+ price tag of the 12 inch MGS3 figures. Hey, wouldn't this be funny if you end up having a choice? (or rather a non-choice like killing the Boss in 3) ![]() What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
They use motion capture to help animate the faces and match the lips to the actual words now. I wonder if they'll redo the lip syncing for the English version. If they use motion capture, it seems like it would stream line the process of animating the talking, making it easier/less time consuming to do.
Didn't Kojima say that Metal Gear's trademark "exclamation mark over enemy soldier's heads" would not return in MGS4 and that the enemy soldier's facial expressions would be good enough to let you know when you've been spotted? Seeing how much more serious the tone of MGS4 seems, I don't mind the missing exlamation marks in order to make the game more realistic. I just hope my tiny non-HD TV will let me see what enemy soldiers are thinking. FELIPE NO ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
Was it just me or were the E3 trailers better than any movie you've seen in a while? I certainly haven't seen any good movies in a great long while. With the move into the next gen with more realistic graphics, would movie adaptions of games even be necessary? It seems redundant to me when games are starting to match the production value and surpassing the entertainment value of movies (even from just the story side of things. Some game story lines kick Hollywood's ass).
To bring back that old argument from earlier in the thread, I think that one day games will be considered the ultimate form of entertainment, and while movies will always be made, they will be considered secondary. I personally think that movies have somewhat reached the limit of what they can do, where as videogames are a relatively new form of entertainment and the possibilities are greater. Example: what do you think action movies will look like 20 years from now? Probably the same as they do now. However action games 20 years from now will be a whole new animal. Who knows, maybe we'll be playing Metal Gear: Grey Fox on the holographic Sony-Nintendo PS6 wearing a Wii-suit. Or maybe Halo 9 on Exxon-Microsoft X-Matrix. Yeah, my money's definitely on videogames becoming the dominant form of entertainment in the future. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
What I mean by movies reaching their limit is that there really isn't much movies can do to seriously impress audiences any more (well, not the ones that have been watching movies their whole lives at least. There's always going to be mindless masses which are impressed). The overproliferation of CGI has jaded audiences. People aren't going to go see the "next big movie" if it's the same thing they've seen 1000 times before. The only way for movies to continue to succeed is if they bring new stories that to the table that people are interested in, but there's only so much creativity out there and the well will dry up eventually. You know the saying "there are no new stories, it's all been done before". I find that to have some truth to it. Of coarse, you're always going to have people that do want to see the same thing over and over again, which is why movies will never go away. Are there still some new and interesting things that can be done with movies? Yes, but eventually everthing will have been done. There will be nothing left to impress, excite, or motivate people to go see a movie. When that happens, games will take over as the dominant form.
Games have a deeper well of creativitiy to draw from since there are more things that go into a game than just plot. When I say "dominant form of entertainment" I mean in terms of what most poeple do for fun. In the future people won't flock to the movies every weekend to see the latest blockbuster, instead they'll buy/download the latest game and play away. I'm not saying it's going to happen any time soon, maybe 60 years down the line. But eventually it will happen. Of coarse you'll always have people that are too lazy to play games, the ones that don't want to think and just want to watch something. For them movies will still be made. Another thing is, what's the point of watching some guy shoot some villains a million times on screen when you can live that same experience just as realistically in a game? Jam it back in, in the dark. ![]() [ MOBIUS ]

Wow 58 pages! That's a lot of scanning. How much did it cost? Are there any more on eBay? I might want to get one too.

Yeah, except Solidus was a former President. Villain or not, he would still likely be burried in Arlington National Cemetary, and that graveyard certainly doesn't appear to be Arlington. He's probably saluting Grey Fox or Olga. Maybe Big Boss. Who knows, maybe Mei Ling or Nastasha died in between games. Maybe it's Stillman or Emma, wait, scratch that their bodies went down with Big Shell. Could be Master Miller. It could really be just about anyone, I don't really care who's grave it is.
Those wallpapers are the bombdiggity. What's with Ocelot's nametag? "Hello, my name is IGN has released the HD version of the 15 min trailer for IGN Insiders. can someone please obtain and share it? This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. ![]() [ MOBIUS ] |
