When it comes to what I watch, it's always going to be Japanese be it subbed or unsubbed. I know both languages, and clearly the Japanese dub is always going to be better because of the talent that is cast for those voices. A great number more Japanese seiyuu have better vocal control being able to control pitch and depth (no surprise) of their voices to vary it up. When watching Melody of Oblivion for instance, I could not tell that Bocca Serenade was Houko Kuwashima, and I was the biggest fucking Yurika Misumaru fan in the world back in the day. I should have been able to detect it from a mile away, but couldn't. That's how versatile they are.
All this compared to Lia Sargent forcibly casting herself in her 54902398th role with the same fucking voice she had when you first heard her perform. The ONLY English VA I know that can vary her voice well is Wendee Lee.
Jam it back in, in the dark.
